Great produce - experiment for best results
We got this for a family friend whose 12 year old lab was having incontinence during the nights. She had resorted to laying down plastic and tarps which she would clean in the morning - a big job since labs are such big dogs. It was getting to the point that she was getting ill and was having to start thinking about putting him to sleep. We ordered the SnuggEase diaper in two sizes based on reading reviews here and on the dog diaper products at the Petco/PetsMart websites. This product had the best reviews, so we got two sizes. She was dubious because she had tried a dog diaper from Petco or PetsMart and it hadn't worked at all, but she said she said when she got the SnuggEase the quality difference and sturdiness of the construction was obvious. It didn't work the first time so she started experimenting. She was using baby diapers as liners (didn't work) and then tried Depends, which required some adjusting. She said she cuts a hole for his tail and has learned where to place it in the SnuggEase so that it fits his body shape. According to her the leg holes on the Depends is better at containing leakage.Overall she is very happy with the SnuggEase diaper and based on what she told us, we will probably get some for our Toy Poodles when the time comes. Not having to face such cleanup has helped her immensely and added time and quality of life to her dog's life.

We have a 70-75lb male half german half lab and the XXL as one reviewer suggested was the right size. Our dog doesn't seem to mind or fuss wearing it at all. It works pretty well, but if left on wet for a while it does feel wet/moist on the outside. I think these diapers would work better for a female dog as sometimes the top of the diaper slips over the boy jewels, thus not covering him anymore. You just have to make sure you get the right parts covered and it's tight enough to stay on. To help with smell and overall wetness, we are trying using bladder control/thick maxi pads. They help to absorb and help the main diaper last longer before it needs washing, but again, the boy parts sometimes don't fall perfectly on the pad and urine drips to other parts of the diaper. I plan to try baby diapers and/or disposable diaper liners to see if that gives us more surface area protection. These diapers hold up well in the wash. I usually air dry them, but have put them on low air/heat in the dryer when I needed them dried faster. We have purchased 6 in all - and use a new one in the mornings and a new one at night before bed so I only have to wash them every 3 days or so. The hole for the tail has a drawstring to tighten up the opening when the diaper is on. That hasn't held up so well. Despite velcro-ing the diaper closed per the instructions, the drawstring still gets caught on the velcro and has become a shredded dysfunctional mess. I'm thinking about just cutting that string completely and not having the ability to adjust the hole size. So far, our dog is just incontinent with urine, so have not tested these out with poo and don't know how cutting this drawstring off would impact how it holds poo. It's unfortunate they are so pricey at roughly $20/each, but I looked everywhere and there didn't seem to be a better washable option that would stay on and the disposables are too expensive.Update: Four, five and six months later after we purchased these 3 different times, the velcro on the earlier ones we received is finally shot and won't stick anymore. We've been using those binder clips to secure the tabs. While we're disppointed that the velcro is shot, we kind of thought we can't complain as we've been using the same 4-6 diapers (two a day - a fresh diaper in morning and fresh one at night) over and over again since December....so we figure we got our money's worth. I'm ordering two more.Update - a year or more later, we are still using these diapers. Our 14 years old dog is, well, older and more incontinent. Sometimes he seems to have an enormous amount of urine and if it all has to go into the diapers, these diapers just can't hold it all and eventually seeps through if left on for long. To help us get through the night (we're already up at least once to take him out, sometimes more), we've put a baby diaper (size 5 right now) inside. Baby diapers have all that gel stuff in them that holds and stores a lot of liquid. So, for those times when he does leak a lot, the baby diaper has been great to help with not having to clean up as much in the dog diaper, or we can re-use the dog diaper more often. Since they are expensive, we only about 8 or so. So, going through 3 a day makes laundry a pain. Plus, baby diapers are cheap (we are using the huggies brand).

The Best!
My Newfoundland is nearing the end of his life and recently has lost most of his bladder and bowel control. These diapers have been a tremendous help for the dog's comfort and our sanity. I don't think any dog diaper is perfect, nor are they as dependable as diapers on human infants, but they are extremely helpful! These diapers blew the others I tried out of the water. They are much thicker, stronger, and more adjustable than others. Yes, they are pricey, but one of these diapers is worth a half a dozen of the others. The other wonderful thing about these diapers is that you may dry them in the dryer, unlike others I've purchased. Most of the time, I still use a diaper liner, a disposable, or a human baby diaper with them to help with the mess, as I have a giant breed dog.If you have a long-haired breed, I recommend that you have your groomer do a "diaper cut" for your dog. This cut helps you with keeping your pet clean, but do keep in mind it will affect how the diaper fits. Another suggestion if your dog needs to wear diapers often is to clean the diaper area, and then use pure cornstarch baby powder on the dog. The cleaning and the use of powder helps prevent urine scald. I sprinkle it directly on my dog if I can, or at least inside the diaper before putting it on him. He actually seems to like when I powder him, as he lays very still for me. I did check with my vet's office about the powder. You should not allow your dog to lick at the powder.Good luck! These diapers were a godsend for us!

it fits fine when she stands but when she lays down it's too tight! Should have some elastic in there somewhere. And anyway washable is not quite what you need in this situation.

These worked well except that my dog doesn't have a tail. This caused them to slip and slide more than they should and ended up rubbing a sore onto his you-know-what which just broke my heart. We had to stop using them for every day use and just have to put up with the leaking. So if your dog doesn't have a tail it might not fit right.
