A good basic Text Book
Mrs. Harris book really deserves the 4 stars, this is a basic good glossary of items from roots to nuts to animal parts, oils herbs as used in rootworking and in it's basic uses as well. This does not give spells or formulas, but it does tell you WHY a certain "something" is used and for what purpose, such a book is good for the beginning rootworker or conjuror such as what is Queen Elizabeth root, what is its other name, and what purpose is it used for.And she has some other things that are sort of off beat listed under X such as Crossroads and explains succinctly what they are, and how they are used. For those starting out, I do recommend this book and it should be on your shelf.

Great beginner reference book!
I chose five stars because this book is exactly what Mrs, Tina Harris says it is in her introduction. A beginner's guide with a list of tools that she finds essential in her own workings. The book is well written and gives just enough information to help a beginner understand the tool's use. I appreciate the extensive amount of research and organization done to make this book easy to follow. The sources used are well respected and knowledgeable in this field. Hoodoo itself is never easy to nail down because of its constant evolution based on the need and means of the practitioner but if you need a basic list of General tools and their uses to start with, then this is it. I highly recommend this book.

Great addition to your reference library
This is a small book, but it is packed with information. It is more of a reference book than anything else. One wouldn't necessarily read it from cover to cover, but it is a great addition to any spiritual library.

Four Stars
Great little book

3 complaints:
1. VERY basic info.2. SO MANY references to the bible (which hoodoo DOESN'T have to incorporate).3. UNBELIEVABLE amount of typos!!

A quick read
The book is nearly an alphabetical listing of items with a brief description of their uses. The book did not give instructions however is a good reference for someone beginning to learn.

Google it instead
It's a surprisingly thin book, child's short story book thin with just 67 pages total for ingredients with a small handful of crystal/saintly content (including her websites pages and 9 pages otherwise for a disclaimer, thank you's and contents ).A few parts had an issue with lack of proof reading, but nothing too severe (extras of the same words, missing letter here and there. Not severe at all.)This book is sincerely ONLY for COMPLETE beginners who want a very basic run down. However this book does blatantly state that it takes information from Wikipedia and Google (which I wouldn't mind if there was more content to this book) as well as Catherine Yronwode's Materia Magica (which I sadly purchased before having done my research on Yronwode personally) who has shady business practices, poor moral stances and likes to scare away much competition from her company personally, shares client information among her employees for her "psychics" and who also likes supporting her husband's pro-suicide website. Yet, even Catherine Yronwode put more information regarding hoodoo into her book than Mrs. Tina L. Harris did in hers. I would certainly recommend using Google/Wikipedia over this book which is strangely ironic.
