Best Digital Thermometer for BBQ, Cooking, Meat, Food, Grill with Collapsible Internal Probe

After just under 31 monthes, or about 2 1/2 years the thermometer is displaying 888.8 E while turning on the thermometer. The unit has been very handy and reliable -used at least 3 times a week, mostly for checking meat temperature. The thermometer could also be reliably used to check air and water temperature. The measurement range utilized was from 30° - 200°F. The thermometer was once checked against a much more expensive thermocouple thermometer and did really well, within half a degree Fahrenheit which falls within the 2°F accuracy. The problem now is there doesn't seem to be any support for the product. For the price, I couldn't expect too much and the thermometer met my needs at the time. The cost per month was close to 50¢ per month. Contrary to the product description, the final temperature doesn't display in 5 secs, morelike 15 to 20 seconds. The extra time didn't make the thermometer any less valuable. The Ebooknever was included in the purchase. As a result, a refund was processed, bring the price down closer to the current price. The unit can be turned off by pressing the [On-off] switch or simply folding the probe and measuring unit in half. The probe was difficult to remove once it was snapped in place, so the thermometer was always turned off using the button and stored easily with the probe next to the unit but not snapped in place. Despite the thermometers short-comings, it worked well enough for me. Going forward, a new unit will be purchased and support will be a more important part of the cost. If you are looking for a thermometer at a good price, with little support, realize that it will be need to be replaced after 2-3 years depending home much it's used, and the other limitations are acceptable, this is the thermometer.

Very slow and stoped working after two years

This is a grrreat kitchen thermometer, and so easy to use! All you do is install the batteries, and viola - it works! It made my job of making homemade yogurt so easy! I fully reccomend it!

The temp. reading is slow not instant. It seems to work other than being slow

Well, it does register a temperature pretty quickly. Unfortunately, this one is off (low) about 17 degrees @ 140 F. Luckily I was checking it against one that I know is accurate so I didn't ruin dinner. I guess I'll be a little more patient and use my OXO brand thermometer. Maybe I got a dud, but I'm very disappointed and would NOT recommend this product.

I've only used it twice... once for steak on the grill and again for heating water to the proper temperature for yeast. I look forward to using the instant read thermometer a lot.
