Everything you want in a data/sync/OTG cable!
One of the biggest problems with Android Phones is the limited storage – you can only do so much after you’ve installed all your wanted apps. This leaves out many of the wanted space for media. That’s why they made OTG (on-the-go) cables – to supplement phone with USB storage, in addition to connecting USB peripherals (keyboard, mice) – but the cables are usually poorly made. Until now. The DECEC Harrier is high quality 3-in-1 Cable, which is perfect as a charging, transferring data, or OTG cable. Details inside, including a full TLDR.▶ Specification• Standard: USB 2.0• Interface Type: Micro USB Plug, USB 2.0 A Plug, USB 2.0 A Receptacle• Fold Length: 12CM• Unfold Length: 24CM• Limit Current: 5V/2.5A▶ CompatibilityDue to hardware and software limitations of many Android devices -- especially older ones, I can ONLY guarantee compatibility with the following devices:• Samsung: Galaxy S6 Edge, S6, S5, S4, S3, S2, S4 Active, Note, Note 2, Note 3, Mega; Galaxy Express, Galaxy Tab 3 8.0/10.1, Galaxy Note 8.0.• HTC: One 2013 (M7), One Max, One Mini, Desire 7060, First, One X+, Evo 4G LTE, DROID DNA.• Motorola [*]: Moto G, Moto X, Droid Mini, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, RAZR M, RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD, Xyboard 8.2" Tablet.• Google: Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012 Original & 2013 New), Nexus 10, Galaxy Nexus; third-party software required or device being rooted.• Sony: Xperia Z2 Tablet 10.1, Z1, Z1 Compact, Z, Z Ultra, Tablet Z; Xperia S39h• LG: LG G2, Optimus G Pro• Asus: MeMO ME171, MeMO Pad FHD 10• Dell Venu 8• Lenovo K900• Xiaomi: RedMi, 3, 2S, 2A, 2, 1S, Xiaomi Box• Huawei: X1, B199, Ascend P6, Ascend, D2, Mate• Oppo: Find 7, N1• Meizu: MX, MX2, MX3Some devices have native support, but others like the Nexus 7 (2013) and OnePlus One require additional software (i.e. Stickmount) and root.Check with your manufacturer if your phone supports OTG adapters.▶ HardwareCongratulations if your phone is suitable with the OTG adapter, but if your phone doesn’t support it, it’s not the end of the world. You can still use it as a charging/data cable, which is rated at a very high Amperage – it should adequately charge any tablet, phone, or anything with a micro USB connector as fast as your OEM cable. What’s nice about the cable is the simplistic yet small design. The cable is wide but thin and flat, comparable to my high quality OnePlus One cable, but about half the size (9.5” inches unfolded). The micro USB connector doubles as the OTG adapter, with a female USB connector opposite, which is great for storing the male USB connector in (4.75” inches folded). The trick to making this cable is the small aluminum switch on the micro USB, from “Cable” to “OTG”. This should be self-explanatory.As far as quality is concerned, the Decec Harrier Cable takes the cake. The housing for the micro USB, and OTG adapter is nice. The cable is thick, and I have the option of putting this on my keychain. My only issue was the aluminum switch. While it functions perfectly, I expected the feedback of the switch to “click”, instead it’s silent. This is nitpicking though.▶ Final ThoughtsThe Decec Harrier Cable is everything you need in a USB OTG cable. It allows you to sync, charge at a fast rate, and then gives you the OTG functionality. There is little more to want, unless you want a longer cable.5 StarsRecommended▶ TLDR;Pros:+ Gives you the ability of a data/charge/OTG cable in one+ Rated to charge phones and tablets at a very fast rate (2.5A)+ PortableCons:- Aluminum switch has no feedback.I was provided a sample in exchange for a thorough and honest review. High Quality and Well-Designed OTG Cable
Note: I received this product in black and orange ( DECEC® Harrier Cable Portable USB 2.0 A Male to Micro B Data and OTG Cable USB Charge Cable ) for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. I review all products as if I paid full price for it. Price of this product at time of review on Amazon is $12.99.This is most interesting and well-designed cable I have seen in a long time. It is unique in that it allows you to easily store the male USB connector into the female USB connector, basically allowing you to fold the cable up into two when storing, as pictured in the product page. This makes this cable highly portable. I did a quick Amazon product search for "OTG cable," and none of the products on at least the first 5 pages of search results have this unique design at date of this review on 7/16/2015 (I stopped looking after 5 pages, so it can very likely be more than 5). It is such a simplistic design, but I guess not many people have thought of it...but I expect copycat products soon. The cable is thin, flat, and flexible, but at the same time seems sturdy and not-at-all fragile.I have tried this product in all ways as advertised in its photos--ALL WAYS WORKED FLAWLESSLY FOR ME:- Most importantly, I was able to use this as an OTG cable on an android tablet to access a USB thumb drive.- I was able to use this as a data cable to sync my phone with my computer.- I was able to use this as a charging cable for a phone connected to a charger, and I was also able to connect another micro-USB with male-USB cable to the female-USB port of this cable to charge both my phone and an android tablet at the same time.People buying this cable are probably mostly looking for its OTG functionality, but for the tech newbies, obviously make sure your device is OTG-capable first before buying--otherwise you will end up with simply a data and charging micro-USB to male-USB cable that you can easily buy cheaper elsewhere.I would buy this cable at full price if I lost the sample I received and/or recommend this to close family and friends if they have need for an OTG cable.
