Alcohol Hydrometer with Microfiber Cleaning Cloth - Triple Scale Specific Gravity ABV Tester for Beer, Wine, Mead, Cider and Kombucha

When I broke my hydrometer right in the middle of making 3 batches of pear wine at harvest time I needed this little tool replaced quickly. This one arrived pretty quick and had the three scales I am used to having so I am pleased with it. I was able to measure the sugar content and control the eventual alcohol content to 17% and I think it was quite accurate judging by the taste of the product.

The scale on this has a MUCH brighter color than the other, rather faded out looking colors on the ones I currently use.It is a little easier to read or make a mental note of the reading while still in my wort.It is a little more expensive than the others (nearly double). I will probably buy another one.

Myself & my husband are avid gamers & we decided to try to make Mead, from Skyrim. We've never brewed before so this was our 1st attempt.It cost me $20 just for the honey alone for one batch of Mead making! I bought other things to go with this like a gallon jug & whatnot.Anyway, I started the process, for at least 7 days the bubblybobbly stopper was still bubbling, I used this item & it said the alcohol content was zero, nothing registered at all. It didn't float, it just sank. I was heartbroken that my first ever Mead attempt was a dud. I still went through the whole process though.6 months later, here I am, tasting my Mead & I'm a little buzzed!This item I got was defective??? My Mead actually did ferment & everything worked out as it should. This item failed. I can't return it because I left my Mead for the minimum (suggested) 6 months & ofcourse, that's outside of return policy.For the record: My Mead tastes GREAT!This item, was not!

Started into the home brewing wines and i know this is invaluable. Made of glass and has a nice weight to it. Numbers are a little small for my vision but they can be read. I was a little disappointed that it did not come with a hydrometer cylinder. The case it came with is a two part plastic that locks together in the center so not usable for a cylinder but it does protect the hydrometer. I am still happy for a reasonably price tool. Have already used it multiple times in my endeavor to learn about making wine.
