Almost Perfect?
After researching the Triad-Orbital Website, I bought this boom to replace the boom on my K&M mic stand boom because any seasoned musician knows those pesky adjustment knobs eventually strip-out with regular use/abuse. Three of my K&M booms, primary adjusting knobs stripped-out so I permanently fixed these with pop rivets. This means only the secondary knobs work but was sufficient for most gigs. Secondly, my K&M's in the "extended" boom configuration eventually had trouble holding the mic in it's locked position (the mic would droop while you're playing and you'd have to gorilla-tighten the adjustment knob to keep it in place). So when the Triad came yesterday, it was everything as advertised:PROS:1. SUPER Robust and built like a Tiger Tank.....really!2. Super-positive adjustments and infinitely configurable to any situation (especially with the many adapters that can be purchased separately).3. When you lock this in any position in the "long" or extended boom configuration, it stays locked, period - no more drooping!4. Flawless fit and finish.CONS:1. Heavy - Built like a tank means it's really HEAVY. For example, four (4) complete K&M's (w/ booms) in one mic stand bag is heavy. This Triad-Orbital boom alone seems to weigh almost as much as one, complete K&M mic stand WITH boom!? I cannot imagine having to carry four complete, Triad mic stands & booms in one bag?? Factor this in when you are setting up sounds for you band's next gig.2. Expensive - The Triad 01 boom alone cost almost the same as one, complete K&M mic stand w/ boom! So just three (3) Triad-Orbital, T2 mic stands with 01 booms will run you $864 on Amazon.com! Add some QR adapters and a clamping system for your IPad and you can easily spend a $1000 bucks....ouch! However, you get what you pay for and I have no doubt that this is the last mic stand you or I will ever buy because it's fit and functionality is 2nd to none. I would highly recommend Triad-Orbital for the professional musician or photographer. Except for it's heaviness and ability to empty your savings account, I believe these stands are almost perfect!

Solid mic boom
I run a professional recording studio and I need professional equipment. This mic boom is one of my favorites. I can position a mic anywhere I want and it stays put. The quick release system is really handy and allows me to swap out microphones with ease. These are on the more expensive side, but they will be worth every penny. Don’t waste your time with cheap mic stands, just pony up the dough and get these. You will be very pleased with how well these mics stands work.

The O1 is beautifully made, with a nice finish and rugged clutches ...
As a lifelong pro musician, I've lived with mic booms that just don't do the job. The O1 is beautifully made, with a nice finish and rugged clutches that ensure that, once positioned, even a heavy studio microphone will stay where you want it. The camera tripod- style mount allows quick and flexible adjustments. Kudos!

Super stable, adjustable and easy to use
Super stable, adjustable and easy to use. I wanted a stand and boom that I was sure of - one that I had no fear would tip over. This one is perfect. It's heavy, but it is so well made.

Beautifully made as part of a system
This is a fantastic piece of equipment but only works as part of a whole system.

Very bad locking mechanism!!
I have two of these. The front lock for the telescoping neck on one of them Broke, and none of the locks ever worked anywhere near as well as expected! They all slip. They need to be redesigned. After looking closer at the picture in the ad for this, it looks like they may have redesigned the locks. Unless they are willing to replace the ones I wasted my money on, I'll leave my review as is.
