Great germination rate
Soaked them and direct sow into a sunny patch and they did beautifully! We had a huge crop. Buffalo ny soil is clay and hard as brick so the patch was amended but not with anything fancy. Easy peasy and gave a great yield.

Love this stuff
This is jute, the stuff the make jute rope from. It is also Egyptian spinach. It tastes great (better that real spinach), and you can pound the stem fibers out to make twine for one of those camp survival experiences with the kids. Best of all for backyard farmers, the chickens love this stuff. Multi-use plant and both livestock and people food in one.

Buyer Beware!!
Buyer beware!! Seeds sprouted within a week, but the plant was not mlookhiyyeh. I waited a couple extra weeks to make sure since this plant has a distinct and hard to miss striations along its leaves, but unfortunately I have planted some obscure rounded, flat leafed plant as opposed to the mlookhiyyeh plant's obvious pointed, striped leaf. Not only has my money been wasted, but worse, my time, since I could have planted something that would have actually benefited me, rather than the weeds that I planted from this seller's bag of seeds. 500 seeds for this price was too good to be true, but I thought what person would go out of their way to sell phony mlookhiyyeh. What a wasted growing season.

Direct sow in NJ garden, good results!
We planted these seeds directly into soil in our NJ garden (zone 6-7) in late May. Had no idea how it would do here. Harvested first crop in late July but leaves were very light green. We added fertilizer and had a couple weeks of VERY hot, sunny weather in August which seemed to help our second crop. Might not get a good 3rd harvest, but overall very impressed that we were able to do this well here!

seeds had opened in amazon package
the original seed package was totally empty---after looking further in the bottom of the envelope the the seeds were there --they must of fallen out of package. I did cancel this after finding the seeds.

Texas heat approved!
Seeds worked great! I direct sowed them into my planters, and all of them came up! They are thriving in the Texas sun!
