A Beautiful Piece of Work
Aside from what the title say about how beautiful this knife is, it's extremely well made, too.I've had my share of folding knives that include a marlin spike. Or, others that contain even more.However, it's my opinion that just these two tools are all that you'll need for most rope work and sailingactivities. Having separate tools at hand for other uses associated with these activities is a better idea inmy, it seems to me.The knife has quite a heft to it. It's a big 'un. It easily cuts through a variety of cordage materials. The onlytype of rope I've had trouble using this knife is ProManila (also called UnManila)polypropylene. That stuffdoesn't even cut well with a serrated blade. But, for general rope work, I recommend the plain edged blade.Getting back to the knife, the fit and finish are excellent. The G10 scales feel great in my hand. Good enough for me. The solid marlin spike is great for opening most all ropes up to maybe a little over one inch. Othwise,consider a Swedish fid. Amazon sells some good ones. Along with this knife, I'd recommend one if youplan on doing any splicing rope over an inch. The marlin spike in this knife is perfect for most anythingdown to about 3/8". It's slightly blunt on the end.I have no idea about the steel in this knife being "German", or otherwise. It sharpens easily for those neatrope cuts. It's probably a good idea to run some light oil over the blade every now and then if you intend touse it around salt water. To maintain it's beauty and function be sure to give it a good rinse after any usearound water. Follow up with a little lubrication. I'm pretty sure this knife will last way beyond a lifetime.Don't let the beauty get in the way. This knife is for hard use. And, it will stand up to just that.If there's a choice on which rope knife to buy, this one gets a 10 out of 10.Get one!

Perfect size and useful design
Lighter then expected, lock on blade and marlin spike are tight. Wasn’t super sharp out of box like a spyderco or benchmade.I collect knifes, this one was surprisingly good. I got it on flash sale 35$Worth three times that with fit and finish alone.

Good looking High Quality
I sail so I purchased this as a piece of safety gear. The knife looks good, very good quality of construction. Very safe locking mechanism. The pouch can be worn vertically or in a horizontal position. My only disappointment was the knife was unsharpened out of the box. I ordered a wet stone which I needed anyhow but I would have expected at this price point to have received a sharp blade.
