I recently purchased this online and so far it seems to be working well for me. I'm curious as to why it didn't come with a cap on it?

Hi Amazon Customer. Thank you for reaching out to Maybelline regarding the Facestudio Lasting Fix Makeup Setting Spray. This product should come with a clear grayish cap. We suggest you contact Amazon or where ever you ordered it from regarding this issue.

Can this be used for facepaint?

Hi there! Thank you for your interest in Facestudio Lasting Fix Setting Spray. The setting spray will benefit in allowing face paint to not fade and melt. It will enhance the wear controlling shine, matte finish, and lasting through out the day. We hope you find this information helpful.
