This is a wonderful complement to my workshop where I work on vintage radios that other electronica components. I really appreciate the extra lighting and the extra ability to use batteries or actual AC. I really like the extra arm that helps how deep and I like the overall process where it is silently way to town and it will tip over as other types of magnify glass and other technical Workstation but if I glass help her but she does. This one is very well-made and I really appreciate all the versatility that it offers. It is truly a step above from my other bag if I could ask workstation.

This is decent. The center pole that has the majority of the alligator clips on it is very difficult to screw in from the bottom tight enough so that the center pole doesn't turn. I used a screw driver and a pair of pliers. This included a sponge AND the copper trimmings to clean solder tips, wasn't expecting the latter so that's a plus. The LED on this device is useful but not as bright as I would have hoped. The magnifying glass is nice but the 4x magnification is so small that it makes it difficult to use.This also takes 4 AA batteries which is a lot of juice for such little light, but it does come with a USB cable so if you are close to a power source you can use that instead. The battery cover is kind of flimsy and hard to close when the batteries are in.Overall it has a solid metal base, and the attachments are better than most other sets I've seen. A pretty decent complete kit for only $25.

I ordered this item to help with the rewiring needs on my Jeep. I was floored at first to realize how big this thing is. That being said it has a very nice heavy base making it stable and the adjustments are very flexible. I use it all the time, for example, reading micro print on motherboards where adjustment of the magnifier with the built in light makes it easy to see everything. Haven't used it yet for soldering but I'm positive it will suffice. Excellent product.

Arrived quickly and was packaged well. This helping hands unit is "okay", but it has one major design flaw. The vertical post which holds the two gripper arms uses a screw threaded into the post from the underside of the base unit to hold the post in place. When the screw is tightened the post is firm. However, if you rotate the hands counterclockwise (even a tiny bit) when working it will loosen the screw, and then the vertical post becomes wobbly. A better design would be to use a flat washer and a locking washer on either side of the mounting base, BUT the mounting screw isn't long enough to accept two flat and two locking washers. Just use another screw, right? Well, yeah, but why should the customer have to go to this effort? When you look at this device in the larger picture, it is intended to work on very small work pieces (hence the magnifying glass), so the very last thing you want is your work piece flopping around especially if you're soldering a tiny electronic component onto a circuit board or working on a tiny piece of jewelry!

the magnifying lens is very clear and the light is good

It's not too bad. Quality is about as expected. Base is stamped steel. Ring LED illumination is pretty good. Optical quality of the lens is OK - usable at least. There is a little distortion but not enough to make it a problem.Base for magnifier/light has two screws/screw holes of different sizes so only goes on one way, however it's the wrong way. When it's installed it has the lens/light facing the back so had to put a twist in the stalk to get it oriented to the front. Not sure if that's going to be OK or if minor surgery will be required to remount the stalk so it faces the front.One issue mentioned in an earlier review about the post coming loose when adjusting in a CCW direction is easily fixed with a lock washer on each side of the plate. Pretty sure the screw is metric but I used US standard lock washers without any problem. Agree that you should NOT have to do that but it's an easy fix. Screw was long enough to accommodate the lock washers without needing to replace it with a longer one. Didn't need to use a thread-locker compound on the threads but that's another option.BE AWARE: The included copper-looking scratcher sticks to a magnet so it's plated steel.

This is a great station. It is well built and well designed. I have has many stations over the last 40 years and I think this one is the best I have had. It fits my Weller soldering iron perfectly. It would have been nice if it had a ceramic collar but then I have not seen one of those sine the 70's.
