It helps you get used to squeezing the trigger and the feel of your weapon (less the recoil). You load them in your weapon (I only use one at a time) and then you have to manually cock the pistol and "fire" it. I only use one at a time until it wears down and only pull my slide back far enough to cock my pistol without ejecting the snap cap. The basic intention of snap caps is to cushion the shock to the firing pin/striker when the shoulder hits the frame. The answer to your question is "no", the slide does not cycle as there is no explosive force to run the slide. For dry practice exercises, you have to pull the slide manually. In the case of my XDs and my son's Glock, you only have to pull the slide back MAYBE half an inch to reset the striker. You can also simulate some malfunctions and how to clear them by stovepiping one of the snap caps (failure to eject) or failure to fire. **Q: Can this be used in the Gen 4 Glock 26?** A: I am not familiar with a Glock 26, but if it is a 9mm, I see no problem, I have a Glock 19 Gen 4, which is a medium size 9mm, and the snap caps work fine, their main purpose is to keep the hammer from striking and damaging the firing pin, so as long as the Glock is chambered for 9mm, I see no problem. Now of course the snap cap does not hold an explosive charge, so it will not recycle the slide, but I am sure you are aware of this. These snap caps allow you to fire your Glock, and not experiencing the recoil, and there by, not having the tendency to flinch, and moving your gun sight off of your target, what I do is have someone else to randomly load my Glock magazine with live rounds and snap caps ( I think you should buy a few packages of snap caps, which should give you about fifteen snap caps to intermingle with your live rounds) and then if you don't know whether a live round or snap caps comes next you will get over the tendency to jerk your weapon in anticipating a recoil, and therefore by the time you feel the recoil, your projectile is already on its way, and anyway, in theory this will help you get better groups on your target, good luck, I hope this helps you, and by the way these snap caps should last you quite a while. And as always, point your gun at the target, so as to never, fire a live round at a person, or anything you don't want to destroy. Feels perfect and good way too check your firing pin ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Springfield XDS 9mm *by O***Y on November 21, 2018* In a relatively clean gun (50 rounds dirty). Did not jam or get stuck. I will advise, if you release the slide stop as you would a live round it might get stuck. My analysis would be that inside the barrel there is a groove or notch right where the bullet and casing meet. Because these caps are made of a hard plastic, it is plausible that the plastic could get wedged in that groove and cause the cap to get stuck. Anyway, just a theory. I give it 5 stars because it is doing exactly what I need them to do, and that is to safely release the tension on the striker spring when storing my firearm. If you are looking to use these to practice trigger pull they are more than acceptable. Remember you don't have to eject the cap in order to reset your striker, merely pull the slide back just enough to reset the striker. Lastly, and in response to a 1 star review another posted; nothing lasts forever. The plate where the striker hits is made out of what appears to be brass, and yes, a small dent/ divot is created after the striker hits it. I have not used the same cap 100+ times as the other reviewer said they did to verify that the caps are rendered ineffective in protecting the striker. I believe the claim after examining the amount of wear noted to my cap after several trigger pulls. I would rather replace the caps as necessary than my striker. Just seems easier and less expensive to me. I was looking into purchasing A-Zoom caps, but hearing that the metal from the caps were shedding and that they too get stuck in some guns. I opted on the Tipton.
