It works but replacement paper is pretty pricey.

I like the trap.....don't like the snakes! I noticed a snake hanging around on my deck catching rays and making himself right at home so I ordered these. Caught that baby within a week. Just to make sure his relatives weren't hanging around too, I reset the trap and have caught 4 field mice so far. I am glad I caught them when they were outside instead of having to sic my house cat on them! It works well for pesky crickets too - amazing what is crawling around my deck at night! Their glue boards are pretty tough and work very well, but I have purchased additional boards at my local big box store since I seem to be catching mostly mice - the outer plastic box is very tough and reuseable and perfect to load mouse glue boards inside. I did tie a string around it from end to end so the glue board wouldn't slide out (both the mouse and the snake managed to scoot the board out of the black container before they got too glued down to move anymore). I prefer to pick up the container and dump the contents in the trash without inspecting the glueboard....EEEEWWWWEEEEEE.......and the string does the trick of keeping the board inside. To empty, I simply snip the string and dump the board out in a trash bag. In Northern Illinois we don't have anything poisonious - I have only seen garter snakes here - I would think that if I was trapping anything larger (or dangerous) I would want the larger trap and stronger glueboards.
