(SACD-HYBRID) Touring with the Micky Curtis Band, Yamamoto had the chance to explore several international experiences that he would later use on this album as he worked with this band in France, England and Switzerland. On this SACD, the Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio plays two of Tsuyoshi's own blues improvisations followed by jazz ballads that became standards for the trio. Yamamoto's skill and his jazz feeling adds that certain touch of liveliness and spontaneity and makes Midnight Sugar a unique experience. Available for the first time on the SACD format, this features latest CD technology developed by Sony.

What A Gem!
Where do I begin? This gem is any audiophiles dream come true. A brilliant collection of classic jazz compositions that magically seduces any listener into a pleasurable state of utter tranquility. One's mind can just drift away to exotic places or simply recall fond old memories. Tsuyoshi Yamamoto is an extremely talented pianist and many of these familiar selections become pure masterpieces with his unique personal touch. The perfect accompaniment of bass and drum, superbly miked, create magnificent tonesthat are soothing and breathtaking. It's one thing to create a mood, but it's quite another to sustain that mood for an entire session. I highly recommend this hybrid super audio disc for all music lovers. What a gem!

Midnight Sugar
When I heard Yamamoto's piano in the sample I was sold, he plays with such a dramatic sense of emotion. I bought the album on SACD, everything about the recording is excellent, sound quality, stage presentation and performance, all make for a reference recording. An acoustic Jazz trio with each instrument in it's own space in the sound stage, piano to left, bass in center and drums to the right, realistic, no drum kit or piano stretching across the room. The recording and engineering outstanding as mentioned, the acoustic bass is full and detailed, the piano notes ring beautifully, the drums are dynamic and natural. The performance is so engaging for me, Yamamoto sounds like he strikes the key with seemingly such force then next, off and running down the keyboard, his timing bringing a sense of drama to the listener, his accompanying rhythm section is tight. I can't imagine any Jazz fan not being thrilled with this album.

One of the Best Sounding Recordings of Piano You'll Find Anywhere
One of my audiophile friends recommended this album, previewed it on my streaming service, very nice mellow jazz, but when the SACD showed up, the sound quality is one of the best you'll find in the world of jazz. So many of the SACDs out there are just hi-res versions of "regular" music, but this one takes full advantage of modern recording technology. If you are an audiophile, and enjoy jazz, this might become one of your favorites!

Glad to see these excellent recordings by Three Blind Mice coming back again as SACD versions. Originals are way too costly to purchase.

ALTA FEDELTA e JAZZ
