There are a lot of things I like about this backing. Even the spool it comes on is high quality! It has a little spot to hold the line so it doesn't free spool. After tying it on to my fly line yesterday I can say the knot strength is great. It was easy to tie the arbor and albright knot without any trouble. I have in the past dealt with various types of backing that for some reason have knots that tent to slip out of place. I was happy to find that the Troutster backing had great knot hold and strength the first time around! I put at least 20lbs of pressure on the knot (until I almost cut myself) and it held just fine. It seems to be a touch thicker than most backing which I love because it fills the reel up nicely and seems smooth. I will purchase this backing again for my other reels! Thanks Troutster! And I caught and landed plenty of fish! Well, I've converted over to backing, which is super easy to install and use. I show how to spool it onto a reel in my video.When fishing small streams, I almost never get into the backing. However, out on the lake (especially on a boat), I've had larger bass and trout run on my and get well into the backing. So it's a kind of insurance policy and easy enough to install.Note that this stuff is nice and bright. At 50 yards, it doesn't take up too much room on my reel's spool, so I've still got plenty of room for my line. It's definitely nice, simple, strong backing..................This product was NOT given to me as part of any promotion. I bought it after doing some comparison shopping and this review is entirely the result of my own opinions and use of the product.

Excellent backing from an excellent company. I get into my backing on a regular basis with large Montana rainbows and this backing passes the test.

Went on easily to my new fly reel, and was easy to tie nail knots with, which is saying something. Haven't had a fish put it to the test yet, but then again trout really don't ever get into backing. Very pleased with the quality and price.
