Okay, but....
I bought these as a Christmas gift for my middle school age daughter. I purposely bought the less expensive version of this shoe, as she is still growing, and I am not going to pay $130 for a pair of boots she won't be able to wear in a couple of months. She is not rough on clothes by any means, so I thought we would be okay with these. She loves them and wears them to school a couple of times a week. I gave a three star rating because one of the buttons came off about a month after she started wearing them. The cord that "sews" it in place has pulled through the holes. Since it was attached between the lining and the outside of the boot, there is no way that I can reattach it, without taking the boot apart. I am going to just glue it down, so that the detailing is there. Structurally, so far the boot is doing fine. If it hadn't been for the button falling off, I would have given it four stars.

Warm, comfy, run really small
First off, they do run really small. I have similar pairs of Bearpaws and Staheekums. I normally buy 9 to 9.5 and this 10 fits like I'd expect a 9, which means no room for either a full insole or a second pair of socks. The lovely fluffy lining will mat down, of course, changing the fit. However I believe that shoe manufacturers must conform to standard sizing and these do not.The real suede leather is very nice. Of course I immediately waterproofed it for good measure. The look is just a little upscale from my other pairs. The toggles help the appearance, and are indeed a muted charcoal color on the black pair I ordered. The lining fur ("shearling") is lovely and luxurious. What also helps give a slightly more elegant appearance is the indentation of the seam around the ankle, the way it is sewn so that it is a bit tighter than my other, more clunky boots mentioned earlier. That feature also means these are good walking boots with less play than sloppier ones. There is little or no arch support. Although I consider that a flaw, I know that good arch support is extremely unlikely in these warm snowboots. I simply add a short arch support - it is important that it be short as you don't want a full length insert when there is so little wiggle room for the toes.

The most comfortable boots in my closet. Love them.
These may be the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I have put them on my feet every day since receiving, whether to go on strolls on the beach, a quick dog walk in the middle of the night or running errands throughout the day. They slip on and off easily and quickly surround your foot with softness once put on.I did spray them with suede protector before first wearing and I think that has helped them looking good, especially since it's been over a month of daily wear in rainy weather, some mud and an accidental spill from the coffee pot directly on the top of the boot.I am between a size 8 1/2-9 and the 9 I purchased fits like a glove. Snug but not tight. I love the way the shearling softly envelops my feet and keeps them warm and comfy on during cooler days. All around very happy with this purchase. I have the hickory and will likely buy another pair, in a different color, in the future. They are holding up well, are very cute and are the most comfortable boots I have.* I have updated with photos to show them being worn, and unworn, after a month and a half of wearing them almost daily. As I mentioned, I pretreated with a spray suede protector. I love these boots!

Got these for my son, don't look girly
I bought these for my 8 year old son. He wears a 3 or 4 in children's shoes. It was alot easier to find various styles in girls and women's so we went to the store and tried on a 5 women's, which fit, and I ordered these. They don't look girly...you can see Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon wearing these in the dark brown. He loves them but says they are really warm and since he's always warm doesn't wear them as much as I would. He looked in them and said they don't look very fluffy, and then put his foot in and was pleasantly surprised. Enough fluffiness! I haven't water-proofed them yet but walking in snow briefly to walk the dog they've been fine. The initial time putting them on they were very tight (without socks) to slip his foot in (like crying and saying he couldn't and getting out the shoe horn tight) but its been loosening up and after just about three wears he says its fine now. They were on sale and a great value so Id highly recommend.

Def order up
With the fuzzy lining, these boots do run a tad small. I wear a size 12 and would have ordered 12.5 if they'd had it. I took a chance on the 12, and they'll be okay. A 12.5 would have given my toes some room. Right now my toes go to the end of the box, but not all curled up. Might be an issue if I had to wear them after standing all day, though. Definitely take the advice of others who are suggesting ordering a half size up.They're well constructed and cute. The sides do open up but only somewhat. I can imagine that people who have issues with ankle mobility may have trouble getting them on.I haven't tried them in wet conditions yet, but these are not puddle-splashers. They're synthetic suede, and the place where the upper attaches to the sole is finished with fabric binding tape. I may try to waterproof that part, but either way if it's raining or there's serious snow melt happening, I'm not going to wear these boots. That said, waiting for the bus on a sub-freezing day? These will be nice!
