Hampton Forge Signature Melody 45-Piece Flatware Set,

I bought a set of Hampton Forge Signature 'Melody' at Costco a few years ago. Since we entertain large groups frequently, I wanted to buy another set of this lovely, heavyweight table service. I was so disappointed when I received the box, and the quality was so different! It's not even in the same ballpark. Each utensil weighs about half of the original flatware, and the workmanship is shoddy at that. Perhaps if you've never seen the original, you would be happy with this set, but I sent it back and ordered Gorham Studio instead. It should arrive today, and will hopefully fill the need.

I had bought this pattern at Target several years ago and needed additional pieces for dinner parties. I was surprised to find that the 45-piece set with the same pattern name and overall lines is now much lighter weight and visibly thinner if you compare pieces closely. I would not have bought this set for everyday use because I like more substantial flatware, but it will be OK for occasional use when we have friends over for casual dinners. I do like having the completer set as a part of the package. Overall, I would willingly have paid $20-$25 more to have a higher quality set that matched my first two 20-piece sets in every aspect.

Had previous sets throughout the years. Just ordered new set and is visibly and physically lighter, thinner. Getting close to the cheap cafeteria stuff!

I got this to add to a set I already had. The quality was terrible. Apparently the old set was 18/10 grade stainless steel. This cheap version is 18/0. What a difference a single digit makes! I also wasted $25 having it shipped to me, then back for a return. Very disappointed. Guess I'll be looking for old pieces on ebay instead...

I just ordered a set of Hampton Melody to add to a set I've had for several years. Despite reading reviews claiming that the new melody seemed lighter than the old ones, I decided that "how bad can it be." Well, the answer is BAD! This is not the substantial attractive product it was. In fact, it is now cheesy silverware reminiscent of the usually bent junk that was once used in high school cafeterias! Hampton should be embarrassed to sell this product as the same they once sold!

I agree with the other reviewer. I was gifted an older set of this flatware. We lost a few pieces over the years, so decided to order a new set. Compared to the older ones, these are the same size/shape but quite a bit thinner and feel cheaper. However, it is still a decent value for the price.
