All about holidays, festivities, different cultures, religions, and traditions!
Celebrations Around the World is a fantastic collection of holidays and festivities that people celebrate all over the world.Starting with New Year celebrations, this colorfully illustrated picture book takes us through all of the important holidays and festivals and tells us about how they are celebrated in different parts of the world. Lots of neat traditions are included, such as smashing plates on their neighbors' doors in Denmark to wearing yellow underwear in South America for luck in the new year. We've previously read and enjoyed 'Around the World in 80 Ways' by the same illustrator (and in a similar style) but this is now our favorite of the two! It has all our favorite holidays like Halloween and Christmas but also included plenty of holidays and festivals that we knew little to nothing about, such as Holi, Las Fallas, Dongji, and Anzac Day.The illustrations are fun and festive with lots of colors and details that really set the mood of each holiday. We especially loved the darker pages that made all the bright lights pop!A festive resource for learning about holidays, festivities different cultures, religions, and traditions!

Fun Book for Kids
What a great idea for a book and how beautifully executed, with gorgeous illustrations and descriptions that make each exotic celebration come alive. Children are exposed to the world and different cultures through such events as the globe’s biggest tomato fight in Spain, the storied Day of the Dead in Mexico, camel races in the Sahara. I wish I’d had this glorious book as a child. It certainly would have sparked a wanderlust that would had led to world travel, travel I long for but have not yet done.Pub Date 27 Aug 2019.Thanks to the Katy Halford, DK, and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine.#CelebrationsAroundTheWorld #NetGalley

A fun way to learn about the world!
Celebrations around the World by Katy Halford is an illustrated book about different holidays around the world. She teaches us not only about christian holidays but also about other religions and non-religious holidays, such as the International Festival of the Sahara. The illustrations are pretty and colorful to keep the reader’s attention and most of the holidays have four little paragraphs explaining the basics. It’s a fun little starter book to teach your children about other cultures and religions.

Good collection of festivals!One drawback!
This was the only book I found that had a good amount and relevance of festivals without being too detailed or adding unnecessary pages to make a thicker book. It has important festivals from all over the world. That being said, I think putting colors on animals on the holi page was not necessary. It’s unethical to color animals bcos of the chemicals in colors that they can lick or colors might itch their skin. I don’t want my daughter to think it’s ok to color animals which this book says so.

Fantastic Information and Illustrations!
This is a simple to read, informative book. The colorful illustrations help the information come to life. As I read, I could envision how this could be used during certain culture studies and during certain times of the year. This book would inspire educational projects which will entice the students to read further and develop interest in the material. Great supplemental material and classroom library book for multiple grade levels.

Really interesting overview of big festivals all over the world
Great book, very colorful pictures and descriptions of big festivals all over the world. Gives basic descriptions of Holi, Diwali, Eid al-Fitr, Easter, Rio Carnival, etc. This book, paired with a globe and some Youtube videos of real-life celebrations, gave a really fascinating overview of big international celebrations and captured the attention of my 6yr old and 4yr old. I grew up living around the world, so I'm excited to get my kids interested in other countries and cultures, and this was a really good way to start!

It’s ok.
I can’t figure out how this book is organized. I was really hoping DK had a new publish some I could replace this old-as-bones version in my classroom. But that one is so good and this one is.... lame.On a good note, the stories are thoughtful and interesting.
