Hamster Care: The Essential Guide to Ownership, Care, & Training For Your Pet

Great basic info for all ages...anyone who is considering owning a hamster. I paired it with hamster toys, food and timothy hay to make a raffle basket and donated for the local Humane Society fund raiser.

Easy read for ages 8 and up, lots of great info on learning to properly care for a hamster!

I bought this book for my daughter's ages 11 and 9. It's very informative but I wish it was a bit more kid friendly. I had a book as a kid that had many pictures as reference and it was bit thicker. This book is very slender like manual and it has about 3-4 black and white photos of hamsters.Like I said, there's great information within the pages but I was looking for something a little more fun and entertaining for children.

Purchased this book for my 11 year old son when he got his new hamsters. I skimmed through it and found it to have useful information. He however, only picked it up once. Basically, everything you need to know can be found on Google these days.

My 7 yr old grandson got a hamster for Christmas. Before we would let him pick him out, he had to read the book out loud to us. He learned, and we learned, about taking care of this new addition. It was well written for him to understand. It was full of tons of useful information.

The information in this book looks OK...As a librarian, I do not have time to read it cover to cover..I am posting this review just to alert the reader that this is a self-published book. An author is named on the title page, but no publisher. There is no information given about the author or her qualifications. The table of contents is not very useful considering there are no page numbers. Nor is there an index. It contains five black and white photo reproductions. In terms of production I therefore don't see it at the level of a commercial publisher and that also means that the text has probably not been vetted by any experts or fact checkers. Then again, to the author's credit, I do not notice any spelling errors. I am going to keep it but if I'd known it was self-published, I would have ordered a similar publication from a reputable publisher.

Great little book to help us care for the hamster that no longer exists. Perhaps had we read the entire book the poor little guy could have loved a long long life with us. As it stands he has passed over the rainbow bridge of rodents.

Maybe I should have known this but the author does not mention that your hamster will be running a marathon between the hours of 9pm-4am. The author assumes everyone knows hamsters are nocturnal. I got this book bc I know nothing about hamsters. It mentions that hamsters are “more active around dusk”. The whole point of this book is to learn about the pros and cons before getting a hamster and this giant detail is missing. There is a lot of good info and it’s an easy book to read with your child bc it’a a short book. We were just unprepared for so much hamster activity right at my son’s bedtime. So Sniffy will be running his marathons in the kitchen at night. I’m also now wondering what other information this book is missing.

A gift for a six year old

This is a good book to buy if you want buy a hamster. This book tells you what you need, what hamsters are best to buy for your particular life style. It gives ideas on teaching tricks and tip for breeding.An excellent all round book .. I have bought a hamster and she is wonderful ;-)

Partly my own fault for not reading the description more closely, but this very short book is basically a pamphlet, with black-and-white photos, extremely basic layout, and hardly more information than half an hour of Google searching.

Not too long and easy to read. Several typos though, making it appear less professional and more amateur advice . As a quick brief guide I would recommend to others.

Bought this for my 8 year old granddaughter. Sheas disappointed in the pictures in the book. The information was useful and helpful.
