This is my first Spyderco knife. I mostly own Benchmades and Case. Most of Spyderco designs visually are "delicate" to my eye. Yet, when I saw this knife it spoke to me of heft and fantastic build and design. It is a great pocket carry. It is meaty but within EDC bounds. It is solid and feels well balanced in the hand. I love the blade design, and it is exceedingly sharp - as should be expected. I carry an auto Benchmade with a dagger blade in my bag, so if I need to pierce something I turn to that, but otherwise this blade deals with all situations well. A great, unique pocket knife that is high in quality. I definitely recommend it if you want something beyond plain Jane.

I bought this for my son and he couldn't be more happy.The quality is consistent with other Spyderco knives (this is a really good thing).The blade's cleaver design is unique and it gives the knife a high "wow" factor. That said, the blade design is really specialized so I wouldn't suggest the "Roc" as a good general purpose knife.Spyderco makes a lot of really great all purpose knives. Any of them would be great choices. If you are looking something that's different and interesting or for a great field cleaver the Roc is an awesome knife.

It has a nice solid feel, not too heavy and I love the bead blasted finish. Not the smoothest action in the world but that's ok it doesn't feel like it has to be with this cleaver style. I'm not the biggest fan of spyderco simply because all their knives look very similar but this 1 is unique. Love it!

I waited to write a review until after I carried the Roc around for a couple of days. I bought this with the intention of it being an interesting and useful edc as I often use my pocket knife in the kitchen. First thing I noticed is how much I enjoyed deploying the cleaver-styled blade.. it has an assuring weight to it that easily unfolds with the slightest encouragement. The blade itself locks well and offers little play, and I ended up liking the texture of the bead-blasted finish. While I was considering buying this I remarked how much I would prefer a chrome finish, but it immediately grew on me after seeing and feeling it. It is also a reasonable price considering what you can spend on a knife.Two critical points not worthy of star reduction: The frame lock lever used to unlock the knife is depressed into the frame; and while tightening up the tolerances, only offers a small surface to apply pressure to. It also seems to hang up once in awhile and I have to apply more force to get it to switch back into the frame, but it also could work itself out as I use it more.Finally, the grind on my edge was not perfect from the factory; however this is of little concern to me, as I plan to enjoy putting my own edge on it this weekend.Would recommend.

Sending it back. Not sure if I'll order another. For one, it's kinda small, but not too small. I do like it. I love cleaver style blades. Weight wise, its definitely on the lighter side of my knife collection. Workmanship on blade and handle is great.I have in the lower teens of Spyderco knives. All folders. I'm used to their top notch quality and I know what to expect. The pivot on this knife is sucks. The action is terrible. Feels like it is metal on metal. I don't know what the issue is but it opens like crap. And closes like crap. The exact opposite of a buttery smooth opening. There has to be an issue with this individual knife. Spydercos quality is better than this. After all I'm going through the pain in the ass of sending it back. Haha.

cool blade design... what else can you say ... its a spyderco. It came sharp out of the box... not a fan of that wire pocket clip tho... but a unique knife i recommend it ... not as useful to a clip point... has no tip ... as my co worker described it ... its a great cheese cutter

No es nada del otro mundo, esta es mi 4a spyderco y ha sido la mas cara y la que menos me ha impresionado. El tipo de seguro la vuelve poco practica. De hecho tratar de hacerlo con una mano la vuelve muy peñigrosa. Dado el diseño, tratar de sacarla la vuelve súper difícil, en otras spyderco la puedes tomar por encima del clip y en esta no y eso lo hace mucho más difícil de sacar. No es mala, pero no es buena. En general la considero muy cara por lo que ofrece. No la recomiendo.
