Another factor is your target temperature. Everyone has a different temperature preference, from a light vape to full combustion. You will also find that the first heat from room temperature will take longer than the subsequent heats when the wand is already warmed up. I just timed a heat from room temperature to high temperature using a medium size flame and it took 15 seconds. As for how long the wand will last, it will pretty much last forever as long as you don't break it. Even a broken wand still works fine as long as it isn't too short to hold. **Q: Could it be heated up by a tealight or candle?** A: A candle flame is not very hot and will coat the quartz in black soot. I recommend using a creme brulee torch or blowtorch, which provide a hotter and cleaner flame. **Q: Is this item durable?** A: Its breakable. It dose hold up to heat **Q: After lots of use, my wand has a white residue. Does this affect the temp and how can I remove it?** A: It shouldn't affect the temperature. You may notice that you will be able to see the end glowing as it heats and this can give a visual indication of the temperature, which you don't get so well with the clear quartz. You can't easily remove it because the ash has actually burned into the quartz when you reheated it. You can avoid it with a fresh wand by heating the quartz a bit hotter, but then "hovering" very close, but not making direct contact with the item you want to vaporize. That will avoid getting the quartz surface dirty.
