Full Rotation / Special Perspectives at a Bargain Price
I have a family of artists. And I have never seen something quite so comprehensive as this. The art instruction part is relatively basic, so this is not a book to teach you how to draw. But the value is in having so many poses and so many angles of every pose for each model. This removes a lot of the guesswork whereas many books only have the one angle. The digital copies on CD are included with the print book. Having the digital copies ensures that areas of interest for detail are not minimized. And the model selection is amazing--many different body types and ethnicities. The small collection of melodramatic facial expression shots is humorous, but I can see that it also serves a purpose for folks needing to portray varying degrees and mixes of emotions.Good job!

Artists will find this book very useful
What I like about this book is that it is great for sketch artists who want to practice shading. There are a variety of models with differing body types as well as light techniques to keep you busy. As a sketch artist, I have bought several Art Models series books on both kindle and in print, and I would say I prefer buying the book in print. The print book comes with a disk of extended shots not in the book which is great for more practice.

One of the Best Out There.
This is one of the best reference books out there. I wish the lighting was a little more dramatic. There is more "shadow" than there is "light" and very little strong highlights. It would have been nice if a greater variety of ages were represented and perhaps a series of draped poses. That being said, I really liked the inclusion of head shots with different facial expressions.I wish they would add a "Male Figure in Shadow and Light" to this series. I also purchased Vol. 2 which does have some male models but it would be nice to have an entire volume dedicated to the male form.

Review, Art Model 6
As a visual artist, it is difficult to find the funds to pay for a model every time inspiration hits. It is also very difficult to engage a model at very short notice, and often, if you do not strike when the iron is hot, inspiration can fade. I used to find that I tended to spend a great deal of time with a model, when I could get one, trying to get just the right angle, light source etc. Books like this - and all of the art model books are great - allow me the freedom to find a pose that is useful for arranging the overall composition. I can run up a few sketches and even do a rough painting to get a feel for the overall work. Then, when I do engage a model, I know exactly what I want and don't waste time setting up. Also, the images in this book have excellent modelling for mood and can actually inspire new works of art. I recommend this book in particular to some of my art students so that they can practice drawing curved lines and consequently develop their drawing skill. The only thing I would like to see is a bit more variety amongst the models themselves - I'd like to see more robust figures and less of the really skinny ones - larger frames are so much more interesting to draw and paint. I particularly like the CD extension packs - they are absolutely brilliant and allow for a more sensitive appreciation of the figure as an independent entity.

No Diversity!
I got this book specifically because I wanted to draw and paint diverse models and I saw a review saying there was diversity. Wrong. Mostly skinny white women. One plus size model. Two women of color. Could've found similar models for free online. And no black women at all.... REALLY?! Come on, get with the times! Also, the lighting on the portrait images are so flat, there is basically no shadow on the faces. Without proper shadow there will be no depth to a painting or drawing. Wasn't that the purpose of this book? A lot of awkward and stiff/unnatural poses. Not worth it.

Love this book
I received my book Art Models 6: The Female Figure in Shadow and Light (Art Model Series) and I am extremely happy with the images in the book. These will be an invaluable tool for me to utilise in my figurative work. I also teach and I'm sure that my students will also benefit from the reference material. The DVD is a great bonus which gives an all round view of the model with many variations of the poses. It enables those without ready access to a live model the ability to paint the female figure using the correct anatomical proportions. Love the strong lighting to show up the muscle tone. I intend to purchase the male model book also.

but there are lots of other books out there that are better. I own it so I will keep it
Its just okay, it came with a CD that is nothing really special and I will never use, it will give you reference to the female body, but there are lots of other books out there that are better. I own it so I will keep it.

Causing Kindle App Crash
The book causes my Kindle app to crash. I can't read the book because of the problem. None of my other books cause my Kindle app to crash, only this one.

Posibilidades infinitas.
Pues uno de los más interesantes de esta inusual colección. Por los claroscuros, da más posibilidades al dibujo.Y el CD ideal para variar las posiciones.

Worth every star
Great resource for any photographer or art student looking for inspiration with their models. The book is a collage of images that are included on the disk; the book does not contain all the images. The models are posed on a turn table and then the photographer has captured an image every 10 to 20 degrees of rotation of the model. This makes about 24 images per model with some models photographed in greater detail or specific anatomical areas covered. The disc also contains a PDF version of the book which I've copied to my tablet device for quick reference on shoots; I've already done a fine art shoot and drawn inspiration from the book. You can also download bonus models from the website with the code printed in the book.I highly recommend this book and will be purchasing others in the series.

Great models
These books are really useful. Great for sketching and learning to understand both light and pose.
