Will not continue to spin even in direct sunlight.
If I bump it, and it's in the sun, it starts spinning. Sometimes it'll get going pretty fast, but always it stops. Within a minute of bumping it, it slowly grinds to a halt even in direct sunlight. That's not supposed to happen, and is very disappointing! I'm going to get a different one and hopefully find one that works.

Radiometer "spinning" action is sluggish. Glass design is very nice.
I regret to say that I'm quite disappointed with the behavior of the radiometer itself. Though the paddles do turn, the action is sluggish. I have owned several radiometers in my life, and the margin of difference in spinning action of the paddles has a lot to do with the difference in "surface material" of the paddles. The glass design is quite beautiful, which is one of the reasons I made the purchase, so let me make sure I get that part in. Having said that, I have owned radiometers since the late 1960s which were vastly more basic in overall design, vastly less expensive, and whose spinning function (the very reason one purchases a radiometer) was MUCH more robust. Assuming that the vacuum quality of the products (2) I purchased from you is adequate, I can only attribute the general sluggishness of the radiometers' "spinning action" to quality/type of material used on the surfaces. I will give the units as the gifts I intended, but I really wish I could swap these for better working models in all honesty.

It looks nice, but needs a lot of light to start rotating. My previous radiometer, bought in Jena, Germany, was rotating much easier...

Like the science aspect.
Very relaxing to watch. Is quite the dohicky! Something to do with the suns' radiation. Can get going very fast!
