we really love this balsamic vinegar
My husband and I have tried many balsamic vinegars. We really love this one and keep getting it over and over again. We do not want syrupy, sugary vinegars, and this is definitely not in that category. This has a nice balance in flavor, not too sweet, not too tart. It mixes beautifully with olive oil for salad dressings, or can be used by itself very nicely, and the price is not overly high for the frequent use we give it - several times a week. I am back here to buy another bottle as it's hard to find locally. Very tasty.

This is the best balsamic I've ever bought (though I would caution you to search around the internet as, from time to time, it is much cheaper elsewhere). I am sure there are better balsamics in the world - never mind pricier balsamics - but this is a great "gateway" brand to transition you away from gross, thin, sour grocery store balsamics to nicer, thicker, sweeter balsamics that really elevate your dishes. For the moment, it's the only brand for me. I highly recommend it.

Okay, but less than expected
I am not an expert in balsamic vinegar, but this one could have been anything. The bottle was not marked in any way, so have no idea if the vinegar is the real thing. I would not order again.

Not worth the price
I bought this balsamic vinegar to try it, since I have previously bought the Gold version from the same company ( La Piana Gold Quality Aged Balsamic Vinegar PGI ) and loved it. This one does not come anywhere near the quality of the Gold. It is closer to the pricier balsamics from Trader Joe's (which are around $5 instead of $20) than to a nice balsamic. The Silver is fairly sour, the sweetness barely comes through. As for viscosity, it's very thin - if you're looking for the more syrupy kind of balsamic, this is not it.Given the small increase in price, it is completely worth it to go ahead and buy the Gold and not waste your time and money trying the Silver.
