Borneo, 2nd: Sabah Sarawak Brunei (Bradt Travel Guide) Paperback – July 17, 2012

This guide mixes a useful range of basic travel information with a deeper perspective on the history and ecology of Borneo. It also features some lovely photographs and a few interesting illustrations. I enjoy the focus on wildlife and natural attractions, be they birds, rivers or beaches. It advertises sustainable tourism options and knowledgeable guides. The Bradt series represent a refreshingly new, intelligent and different style of guidebook which, while delving deeper than the usual shallow mass tourism options, still covers all the essential tourist needs.

There aren't the usual number of guide books on Borneo; found Bradt and LP. The info in both books complements each other; one stronger in travel details(LP) and the other in general information and details on fana/flora (BRADT). I've used Bradt for Madagascar and found it very useful, so hope the same for Borneo.

My fiancé and I have just completed our tour of Borneo. I used the Bradt guide for Africa a number of years ago and it was excellent. I purchased the guide for Borneo based on my previous Bradt experience and the fact that this edition of the guide had just been released.I have never been so frustrated and outraged by inaccuracies and incompetence as I was by this (mis)guide book. The author claims to have first visited Borneo in the early 90's, but I find it hard to believe that she has been back since. I have compiled an unbelievably long list of errors, misleading descriptions and woefully out of date information that I shall be sending to the publisher with a request that they refund my money. I was going to make a list of the inaccuracies in this review, but as most people reading this review will not have been to Borneo yet, there seems little point.Have an amazing time in Borneo, but please please please do not waste your time with this horrible book. The author and publisher should be ashamed.

A good guide to Borneo which is ideal background for those planning a first visit. The section on Sabah is more detailed than that on Sarawak (perhaps reflecting the author's preference?) but I have enjoyed reading the book and learning more about this fascinating area.

Really excellent book. Exactly what you MUST have if this is youir first trip to Borneo and you want to make the most of that trip

A good all-round book with strong environmental and ecological credentials... just what is expected from the excellent Brandt series.

Not as full of information on the locations as previous Bradt guides I have pruchased - rather disappointed to be honest. I have booked a tour and wanted to know about the locations, all it has is a very brief mention of them.
