They are not made of a cool wicking material. However, I don't hear any complaints from my daughter about them being hot. I would think a thinner material would come off easily. These stay on securely. These are the first pair of hundreds purchased that my daughter will wear.

Q: Is there a knot on the side of the sock where the derm ends?

There still is a seem but it is flat. My little girl who has issues with all and I mean all socks she will wear these and only these socks.

Q: Do these have a 2" cuff above the shoe? It is a uniform requirement for my kids but they dont like the fold down socks

These might be just shy of 2" at the cuff, but, these are such great socks I might take the chance. Worn in our family from smallest size to largest - finally outgrew them, sadly.
