Greatly Disappointed
I have been using Datapilot Tether since 2010 on Windows XP and had a great experience. I recently upgraded to a new computer with Windows 7.Installation was definitely not straightforward which I knew from having installing it once before on my old computer; however, it did install and started running, the problem is that Datapilot would disconnect the link for no apparent reason with no error messages after less than a minute of connecting. My phone would still show a connection between it and the internet, but the link between the computer and the phone would simply disconnect after less than a minute of connection.I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and tried different approaches suggested on internet forums, but to no avail. My suspicion is that Datapilot / Susteen did not keep up with development of their product on newer platforms, and are now facing new costs of R&D they are not willing to incur, leaving them to sell an obsolete product which do not work on newer computers. Can anyone with cellular service or technology experience comment on whether this might be related to mobile carriers mitigating such a "hack" product against their pricey "tethering" monthly cost on their data plan?Best wishes to all!

nightmare to install
My internet connection died - so I tried to use this product to tether my phone and use my connection (had picked it up months ago, but had not installed).1) you have to have an active internet connection on the computer you are installing prior to using the product - so much for tethering your cell to a new computer to give that computer access to the internet. It is not a helpful safety net if your internet fails. After I repaired my internet connection the next day, I tried again...2) the set-up failed completely - it got all hung up in trying to register / activate the product - simply didn't work3) Help links in the Read.me file were broken4) On line support forum was weak - very weak, with more broken links and lame instructions that didn't workDon't waste you time on this...

Extremely satisfied with product
I am extremely happy with this product and have been using it now for over a year. With no internet at home whether it be cable or wifi, I had been looking for a way to exploit the fact that my phone has an unlimited plan. Having subscribed to Boost Mobile for only $45 per month and originally paying $19 for the program I've saved a lot of money while sacrificing very little in speed. Currently I run it on a Blackberry Curve and a 6 yr old Sony Vaio laptop running Vista and it works perfectly when connected by usb cable. I prefer this method so that my battery is not being used although Bluetooth is offered. Set up was a breeze and there was no problem setting up the laptop from the disk and the smartphone from it's own internet connection. I highly recommend this program to anyone that wants to cut the cord from their cable company.

It doesn't work, don't waste your time
The installation is a nightmare. It kept saying that I had no internet connection or that I had to disconnect my firewall protection. I was not able to install it on a computer running XP. I used a new laptop with Windows 7 and I was able to install the software but only as a download from the datapilot website. Finally when installed my Samsung smart phone was not supported. Then the site recommended to write a service ticket and when I tried to access that site it crashes so a ticket can not be written. The product had a rebate for the full amount paid of $19.99 but I still wasted 3 hours of my life plus the tax that is not refunded. Hopefully they will actually send the rebate back.Don't buy, don't waste your time.

Do not buy this software it doesn't work
I had the same experience as the last reviewer. My suspicion is that the messages were written by a programmer to disguise the fact that this software doesn't work, the claims that it is compatible with Windows 7 and all Android phones are false. If this is the case then it is clearly fraud and both the software manufacturer and the retailer should be prosecuted for making clearly false claims. I have had this type of experience purchasing several things at Frys. I know from bitter experiences that they return products that they know to be faulty to the shelves and sell products that they know do not work like this software in order to extract cash from what they perceive to be suckers.

It Does Work, and I'm happy with it!
Set up was time consuming as the CD installation wouldn't take, so I had to download the latest update online. However, it didn't come with paper instructions, but after reading the online Knowledge Base, I was able to figure it out. I tested it and it does work and is definitely worth the money I will be saving. I think the previous posters gave up too soon or don't know how to go online to the website for support. In fact, I'm going to buy another copy for my husband to use on his tablet.
