Wonderful clear explanation of Bible Doctrine
I am teaching adults in EFCA church a course on Bible Doctrine. I was so pleased to learn Dr. Grudem had produced a smaller version of the huge and detailed seminary textbook to be used in local church classes for laypeople. The explanations are clearly presented in terms laypeople will understand. I was surprised at the number of people who wanted a book to follow along with my lectures and the various Bible passages. All the feedback I am getting from the class would indicate this is a good book to buy for any student of Scripture who wants clear explanations of the essentials of the faith. The adults I am teaching also are mostly age 60 or older too, just in case you are wondering if it is only for younger people. With all their Bible knowledge, these adults are enjoying this Bible doctrine book.

The Important Stuff to learn
It's not easy to learn all about our faith with so many distractions in the world. This book is organized well and covers the essentials I need to know.As far as the books construction; although it is a hardbound book, the paper reminds me of a paperback. And the type size for my old eyes is a little small, requiring more effort to read.I will probably end up getting the kindle so I can enlarge the type and read it easier. As an added bonus, the online extras are excellent.Recommended read and study.

Theology
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to study Theology. It is a basic Theology that sets a precedent for all study of any Theology. It helps me develop a closer relationship with God by knowing Him thoroughly. The Biblical verses give me a deeper basis in which to study the Bible and all 66 books. It inspires me to want to enroll in classes in seminary. My Pastor's recommended this book to me. It is not that easy to read, because it talks about some of the deep things of God. It will help me understand these things and be able to discuss them with a mentor.

Good survey of Calvinist doctrine
This was one of my textbooks when I was a bible major. It's a great, easy to read book that is often my first "go to" for bible questions. My only problem with the book is that it is specific for a Calvinist / fundamentalist / biblical literalist approach to understanding the bible but does not announce this fact. More liberal or just plain different approaches to understanding the bible exist, but they aren't really even offered a mention in this book. So while Grudem is the champion of this systematic approach, it's kind of just a survey of how his camp approaches splits in thought on different doctrines without giving the time of day to other thinkers.

Perfect Match
I teach Systematic Theology at an undergrad school. We had felt the need for some time to find a book that was thorough but not exhaustive, while still treating all the major doctrines openly and conservatively. Grudem came through. I have long been a fan of his larger, more exhaustive work. But this volume provides just the right amount of insight, leaving plenty of room for expansion by the professor. That said, this is hardly a classroom only text- this is perfect for any believer or teacher seeking a text that will engage without overwhelming, inform the mind and transform the heart.

This is a GREAT buy! Remvoes controversy from Bible studies...
Amazing compilation of well proven and unbiased Doctrine reporting. If you are a pastor or a lay person in the service of your Lord and Savior get this. You will find it a good read on many, MANY subjects of Bible Doctrine. Many of these are not even touched on by churches today because of controversy or political correctness. THAT is sad, and this can help you and I understand exactly what the Bible says and means! Get one today, you will be pleased with it I am sure.

Really good for understanding specific biblical topics, a very systematic approach
If you've ever worried about taking things out of context, then this for you. A systematic walk through the bible, looking at all of the verses on specific topics like what is God like, how are we like him, what does the bible say about how we are made right with God, what does the bible say about the future. This is the 3rd one I've bought, one to replace a copy borrowed indefinitely by my son, and this one for a friend trying to make sense of the bible, and then getting sent down rabbit holes online. I can't recommend this enough, and although it's 500 pages long, most topics are covered in 10-15 pages, and you can dip in and out as required, to look at things of interest to you.

Best theology
It's the best, for your personal study, regarding the basic theology, after that you can also refer the deeper side of theology books, but this one is the best for your base study.

Engaging
This is an amazing book! Easy to understand, never “dry.” I can honestly say it enriched my life.I enjoyed this abridged version (on my kindle) so much that I’ve ordered Systematic Theology the big book.Let me add that the kindle version works well. It’s easy to operate.— Trust in the LORD with all your heart,And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,And He shall direct your paths.(Proverbs 3:5-6)
