I had thought that these would have been softer and lighter, but they are so stiff and hard to wear that I will not be able to use them at all. They do clip on and hold to my brackets fairly well, but they hold on so tightly that I'm afraid they are pulling my teeth in the wrong direction. They noticeably add to the pressure of the braces on the teeth.They do make it fairly impossible for the brackets to actually cut up my mouth though, and they do seem to be easy to clean and reuse, but they really needed to have been made of a more flexible material.

This product is about as simple as it gets, but has been a lifesaver for my teenage son, who plays the trumpet, wearing braces, and is currently doing 8 hours a day of high school marching band rehearsals before school starts. This little shield has helped to prevent turning the inside of my son's mouth into hamburger meat - seriously! I do think that this shield is a little pricey, but compared to the consequences of not using one and watching my son be in pain from playing the trumpet, the manufacturer can pretty much name their price and we would pay for it! As far as holding up to the challenge, he's been using it for almost three weeks solid, 6 days a week, 8 hours a day and so far so good. I bought another as a back up. It's the little things in life that sometimes make a huge difference!

Good idea, but not quite successful in execution. Too bulky to allow a tight ambisure while playing French horn. Hard to put on and remove.

*Rating 4 stars because I have only had them for a few weeks and cannot yet say how durable they are long term*These have helped me so much!! I wear them at night to give my mouth a break from the constant scraping. I will say my teeth are relatively straight (3rd time in braces) and the guards are able to cover and reach every bracket. I do have A LOT of brackets with extensions on them to hold rubber bands and I find the guards fit over these as well.- I noticed a lot of reviews saying they do not fit over the abnormal brackets but I run the guards under hot water for a few seconds to make them more pliable and it works great for me!But I can see how if your teeth/brackets are not aligned enough, the extra stretching would cause them to slip off. I’m not sure these would help someone with extremely crooked teeth at first, maybe after a few months of having braces.I will also say that I mouth tape at night so perhaps that helps the guards stay in place, my mouth stays shut and the guards don’t move around.Also - the other reviews saying they produce a lot of spit are correct, I would not wear these for social outings unless you’re very comfortableOverall, I think this is a great tool for braces! Wish I had known about these sooner

I read lots of reviews on different dental wax replacement products. I used hot water like someone suggested and slid whole piece in my mouth before cutting for fit. Yes, it fits well, however the ends are slightly uncomfortable as they didn't lay flush for me in the back of my mouth. I really did like the full protection cover. It really caused me to salivate lots and i did not sleep with them on. It does make ur lips stick out and turn u into more of a mouth breather.I can see why this product may work well with some, and not at all with others. I think the concept is great and maybe future editions will be improved in regards to moldability, thinner use of material with some "air holes" to prevent build-up of saliva, and comfort at the ends.
