Well Built and quality stainless steel
This is a fantastic product and works very well. I built a small stool for holding the press in-place while juicing, which is fixed to the floor will screws. As previously stated, the product is fantastic. However, as it's man-made you can experience challenges. After about 20 uses, the cross-bar became stiff to turn beyond a certain point. I suppose i was required to constantly lubricate (with food grade lubricant) the threads on the cross bar which i wasn't.You should buy this product but always remember to lubricate the thread on the cross-bar.

Great press for hot or cold pressing!
I can't believe it's been almost 4 years working with this press. I have used it for everything to butter and oil infusions, juice and straining honey. Very well made, easy to use and clean. Depending on how much you squeeze, the base does need to be secure. I mounted it on a piece of 1 by that I clamp to the table, keeps the base very stable while pressing. I searched long and hard for this and love it!!!

The second time I juiced grapes (with the mesh bag) it worked much better. I use a centrifugal juicer for vegetable juice
This is a decent product. I used it to juice my grapes to make wine (as a wine press) and I used it press the remaining juice out of the pulp from my centrifugal juicer. As a wine press it worked well. Remember to always use the mesh bag. When I first juiced grapes, many of the grape solids slipped out between the slots of the metal cylinder. When they slip out, they don't get pressed enough and you don't get their full juice content without loading them back in. The second time I juiced grapes (with the mesh bag) it worked much better.I use a centrifugal juicer for vegetable juice: celery, carrots, cucumber, etc. It is by far easy to use than the press. But the centrifugal juicers are not very efficient, and can leave a significant share of juice in the pulp. Enter the press. I fed the pulp from my centrifugal juicer into this press, and was able to recover a significant amount of juice, that would have otherwise been lost to the pulp. I think a good estimate would be about 20-25% extra yield, which I think is fantastic.Cons:It does take time to setup. I built a stabilizer out of wood and a clamp as is recommended in the instructions. It takes some time clean. Juice in big quantities. The hose that drains the juice into a storage vessel is too short. It is about a foot long. That is impractical and takes some time to position your bucket/pot/pitcher just right so that the short hose pours directly into it. I ended up putting a pot on a stool and sliding the stool next to my counter to catch the juice. I think I will go to the hardware store and buy a 3 foot hose, so I can juice and not have to worry about the hose missing the pot and pouring on the floor.Overall it is a good product.

First time used, worked great
My hands are saved! I make a gallon of nut milk every week, this is the first time ever with a press, it was a breeze and got every bit of milk out of pulp. Our set up stand with step down stool made it easy for my 5'1" body. My handymanplaced a small metal washer in each of the holes, on the base, to prevent the screw from going thru the plastic (as it is thinner than the base itself). I was worried that the top, catch base, would pop out of the main base holes but it stayedin the holes very sturdy. In addition we received, in box, food grade grease, for the fine thread shaft, instruction sheet, a splash/squirt cover, a fine mesh bag and It arrived undamaged. Next I will do some herbal tincture pressing, this press will get a lot of use in our kitchen.

This is the biggest piece of crap in the world
This is the biggest piece of crap in the world. One person has to hold the base while another person cranks the crap out of it.It will take a good mood and instantly "P" you off. Who ever designed this needs a smack. It needs some method of securing the base so that you don't get so mad you want to kick the dog.

but once I can figure out some kind of clamping method I think it will work far better. Just kind of a mediocre design really
I make small 1 gallon batches of fruit wine (i.e. not grapes, but cherries, blueberries, etc) and for that this suffices. My biggest pet peeve is that it is far too light, and so instead of vertical motion when I try to twist the screw, the whole thing just turns instead. This makes it very difficult for one person to use. So far I've just been settling for much less juice as I can't really put much leverage into it as I have to hold it straight as I turn it, but once I can figure out some kind of clamping method I think it will work far better. Just kind of a mediocre design really.

Great for Pressing Honey!
I purchased this press primarily for extracting (crushing) honey from natural honey comb. I recently removed a colony of bees living under a friend's shed and wound up with a five gallon bucket almost full of comb. Using a potato masher, I was able to crush and strain 26 pounds of honey the first weekend. I expected when the fruit press arrived that I'd be able to squeeze out another pound or two.... Turns out I actually got slightly over 4 more pounds of honey using this press. This is perfect for the small batches that I'm planning on processing. I did have some difficulty getting the compressed wax out of the bottom of the cylinder, but I'm thinking smaller batches of full honey comb (rather than a large amount of previously hand crushed) might make this a lot easier. Also thinking I may have to try cider and grape juice/wine when fall comes around...

This is a tool that will last!
Bomb proof! When you get this unit you will be IMPRESSED! It is heavy, strongly built and just pulling it out of the box it inspires confidence. And it should! You can tell by looking at the screw that this will create a great deal of pressure! I read the reviews of other fruit presses and looked at how they were made. I don't understand how any of them survive. This unit has saved us many hours of frustration. Pressing and squeezing by hand previously, this has made our chores much more pleasant. But more important, this is a high quality piece of equipment that you know won't let you down under the heavy stress it will have to endure.
