Product description No Description Available.Genre: Soundtracks & ScoresMedia Format: Compact DiskRating: Release Date: 28-SEP-1999 .com The Dust Brothers are best known as the production duo that everyone from the Beastie Boys to Beck and White Zombie have turned to for help behind the mixing board (and to great results). With the soundtrack to Fight Club (the movie based on the Chuck Palahniuk novel), we finally get a glimpse of one of the duo's original creations. Filled with dark techno and sparse industrial passages, it's a bleak though interesting listen. Sinister funk gives way to medieval chants on "Homework," but the bulk of this disc is all about samples and synths. Don't expect to find the quirks of Paul's Boutique or Odelay here, but in terms of good movie mood music, the Dust Brothers have done it again. --Jason Verlinde

If you love the Movie......
Most of this CD is basic soundtrack musak. However. There are are a few songs, the last one in particular, that hold this CD up to a higher scrutiny. I don't expect much much from the average movie soundtrack CD, however, "Fight Club" is "different". It is a different movie. There is a spirit behind this film that is captured on the CD soundtrack. I promise, you will not simply listen to the CD and relive a few scenes of the film. You will FEEL the movie move beneath you in a way that makes you squirm. This whole film should make you squirm. The battle between conscious/unconscious and who we really are should make anyone squirm. But...I digress. Listen to the CD. You are not your Job. You are not the car you drive. As shallow as it sounds. This is actually news to some people I know.........4 Stars.........still bleeding..............

Love the sound and the package
Awesome movie with a great soundtrack. Was pissed that the glue they used to seal it caused it to rip the gatefold. Which I think they did on purpose. Under it it says why worry so much.

Like the Movie, truly Original
I can't compare the music of the Dust Brothers to anything else I've heard, anymore than I can compare the movie to anything else I've seen. If you've seen the movie, you've got a taste of what's in store, but far from the whole enchilada. If I had to give it a genre, I'd say it was a sort of industrial stream-of-consciousness. Very edgy but also really captures your attention and pulls you in at many points. Some tracks take a while to get used to , but when you listen to the CD as a whole and think of what the movie is about, it works very well. A nice combination of edgy, abrassive tracks and the truly somber. Like the movie, it's sobering (if not a little scary).I normally don't care for industrial or "electric grunge" music, but this is something different. Something more carefully crafted than anything I've ever heard in a dance club, anyway. You may not listen to it all the time, but I think most people would be glad to have it in their collection if they listen to other genres that are similar. Definitely Recommended.

Like Listening to the Movie
This soundtrack must have been scored post-production, because every beat of music is synced with the film, and that only adds to the tightly-constructed sound The Dust Brothers put into these iconic scores. Soft at the right times, hard-edged to show grit when needed, my only complaint is that the "moments" from the film (where a score really stood out) seem strung together at random on the disc. The "start a fight" music is near the end, Tyler escorting Marla down the hallway near the beginning, etc. With music this defined by the movie it's set too, it's jarring to have it out of movie order. That said, I still give it five stars, hands-down.

Still awesome over a decade later
I loved Fight Club when it first came out and I use to crank the movie in the dorm when I would listen to it. It didn't realize to me to buy the soundtrack until recently and boy was I glad I bought it. The Fight Club soundtrack is an amazing piece of work by the Dust Brothers. The best thing about it is that it is timeless, still awesome over a decade later. The mixes are simply amazing.

Main Title Song
The second half of "Stealing Fat" is used in the opening titles if that's what you are looking for. Great score.

Open the door and buy this CD
Fortunately, I don't care about the Pixies song not being on here because I already have it on Surfer Rosa (great album). This is a great soundtrack, and with 16 songs I'm always surprised how quickly it's over. The songs are all fantastic and I have them on a playlist with songs by Radiohead, Orbital, and Massive Attack... great stuff to listen to while working.

Exit Planet Dust, Space Monkeys!
Some soundtracks really allow you to revisit the film without even watching it, this is one of them. I guarantee you won't be able to resist going back to Fight Club after listening to this, but even if you can't... this will bring back so many great memories.
