Hand of God Wines 2010 Old Vine Malbec, Mendoza Argentina

You can feel the old vines in this wine - it is wickedly concentrated with intense fruit. Deep cherry flavors, chocolate... in other words, it is something you can sit back and enjoy. It also brings enough balance that you can drink this with food, including acidity and tannins. It is not a restrained wine but if you are looking for great Malbec, this is it.Plus the story is fun. An old vineyard that had been neglected and the owner has only farmed with horse and plough. Pretty cool.

The 2010 Old Vine Malbec is an extremely refined, well balanced and harmonious wine from Argentina. It has an intense, heady bouquet with blackberry, peppermint, a touch of sous-bois and a fug of alcohol. The palate is full-bodied with layers of ripe black, tarry fruit. You must try it for yourself to believe that this is a great wine.

I've been a big fan of Santiago Achaval, the winemaker for Achaval-Ferrar, for years. His latest creation, Hand of God, is drinkable right now. So much so that I'm concerned I will run out before I have 5+ years of age on the bottles since I prefer wines with that aging, in general. Guess I need to order more! You won't be disappointed in the complexity and smoothness of the wines. I'm a big fan.

Although the name of Santiago Achaval's "Hand of God" Malbec doesn't pay homage to any particular diety (the wine is named after the famous 1986 FIFA World Cup goal scored by Argentina's Diego Maradona), drinking this mighty Malbec is a religious experience.This exceptional wine is beautfully-crafted, with a complex, muti-layered structure, substantial palate weight, and lingering finish. Can be enjoyed now (aerating recommended) through 2020.

The Old Vine Malbec takes this varietal to a whole new level. Concentrated flavors and harmonious complexity. Get a great steak and a bottle of Hand of God Old Vine Malbec and you'll happily remember your meal for a long, long time.

Absolutely my favorite Malbec ever. Have purchased 2 cases this year. Highly recommend this wine if you like a very high quality Malbec. Limited distribution so great to find it on Amazon!

Was recently in Seattle and out with some friends for a great dinner and someone in our group recommended this wine. frankly had never heard of Santiago Achával at the time but found the wine to be truly spectacular. Had it with a great steak and was really impressed. Later found out the winemaker has had a ton of huge scores with Parker and started to make sense. Not cheap but worth every penny and hoping they get broader distribution soon.

Tried it at a friend's house, worked perfectly alongside my Vegan meal. Will be buying some.
