It functions fine under Windows 7 and linux. The device itself is transparent, so you own't require additional drivers. However, you will most likely need to obtain drivers for the Mini-PCI-E device you are connecting to it. I'm very satisfied with the product, but the item was not received as advertised.The item i received did not match the picture on its page. It lacked a USB port, had a metal housing for the Mini-PCI-E slot, and looked just like the one posted here: http://www.amazon.com/Mini-PCI-E-Wireless-Card-Antennas/dp/B005Q751BA/ref=pd_cp_pc_0. These issues aside, the device does allow you to connect Mini-PCI-E device and was fairly easy to install.The metal housing came free easily by using a screwdriver to pry small tabs open on the back of the card. As others have noted, Mini-PCI-E devices can be secured to the card using common case screws though they are not provided with the device. I found that the case screws with tighter threads typically found with cd-rom drives work best as the larger threaded ones are too wide and feel like they would break the board. It was a little tricky to stuff the antenna cables under the housing along with the card, but didn't take longer than 5 minutes. I'm not sure what the quality of the signal coming in over the antennas they provide is, but I can say that my wireless nic reports 60% signal strength even at about 28 feet from the router with some obstructions.Overall, it's a very satisfactory product with the exception of not coming with screws for your Mini-PCI-E device, and a usb connector as found on other boards of its kind. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars laptop wireless card to desktop pcie *by P***N on Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2011* This handy adapter lets you use a laptop wireless card to work in your desktop via pci-e. For some reason, there are no desktop pci-e wireless cards that support the new 450mpps "N" routers on 5ghz. Besides this mini pci-e adapter, you will need a wireless adapter such as Intel's newest Centrino Ultimate N 6300 and 3 dual band antennas (2.4ghz and 5ghz) that can all be purchased here at Amazon. There is one catch to this adapter. It does not come with two nuts and bolts that secure the Intel 6300 to the adapter. You can use tape, string, or go to Home Depot. I happened to have small bolts laying around for attaching motherboards to cases. Then I used those cardboard "nuts" found on typical 120v outlets in the home to hold the bolts in place. Finally, simply go to Intel's website ( or your wireless adapapter's site if not Intel)to download the driver. Do this first, then turn off the desktop to install your pci-e adapter. I use the Linksys E4200 router but any new router supporting 450mbps on 5ghz will work. The 2.4 ghz will also work but you are limited to 300mbps and there may be interference from your neighbors since most everyone still uses 2.4ghz. The adapter shipped from Onbene.com and arrived really fast using USPS. Amazon was great as usual. Surprised there are no reviews for this adapter so I hope mine helped out. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Works! *by P***O on Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2012* This was delivered fast and the overall quality feel of the product is good.To secure the wifi card to the adapter, I went to Radioshack and bought 2-56 machine screws and hex nuts. Place a nut between the card and the adapter and screwed it then used another nut on the back. It installed securely.I bought the Intel 6230 Wifi Card and I can't get the built-in bluetooth to show. It doesn't show up in device manager. I don't know if it was because I'm using an AMD chipset or because of the adapter.
