The compression joints let you cut out a section and patch it with a length of good 1/4 line. My situation was an old farm truck that does not use public roadways. This truck has a rebuilt engine but the entire undercarriage is rusted badly. I was on the verge of losing the truck if I could not repair the rear brake line. Every connection was just rusted too badly to work on and the line had already ruptured in two places. This vehicle has a proportioning valve where all the lines from the master cylinder meet and none of these would come lose. Rather than replace the valve and the front line I was able to cut the old line several inches from the valve and use these fittings to extend a new line all the way back to the T-section over the differential. These things were a life saver in time, money, and aggravation. The perfect fix for me.
