The Woolly Pully sweater was originally developed during World War II for use by the S.A.S and Bomber Command.

Far Too Long, Ragged Bottom
The pictures speak for themselves. Unless you're an Olympic swimmer with a massively long torso, this sweater is long enough to be a dress. Unlike the product pictures, the waistband extends probably 2-3 inches below the cuffs. The ragged and wavy appearance of the waist area looks nothing like the tidy product pictures.

Fits a little tight, needs a pocket.
It fits a little smaller than expected. Usually for me a large T-Shirt a is a little too loose and a medium is a little too tight. In this case a large is a little too tight, it will probably stretch a little so I am happy with the fit. Its just not what I expected. I know this a traditional style but it would be even better if it had a front pocket on it. On the plus side it is warm and it does not have much itch but after a day or so you don't notice.Added comment: I have hand washed it once and it shrunk a little. I would probably order the same size again but after washing the size labeled large is probably best described as a snug fitting medium in an American T-Shirt. I still think it will stretch a little. On the positive side, the arm and shoulder patches are not nearly as stiff as they used to be.

A premium price - for a premium quality sweater.
$70 is a 'premium' price for a sweater. This is a 'premium' quality sweater. Materials and workmanship are excellent. It is warm, as thick, rib knit construction with new wool should be. The new wool (which means the strands are long) results in essentially non-scratchy fabric. Nobody is going to confuse me with a commando of any nationality, but I like its looks on me anyway.

Yeah Its wool.
Totally 100% wool. The other reviewer can't read. The back of the tag says PATCHES are not wool.

Fits okay, but very itchy
The fit is okay. A tad tight across the chest, but then at 5'8" and 200, I'm a bit broad myself. The arms are a tad bunched as are the shoulders. The real issue is that the wool itches badly. You have to make sure to follow the standard de-itching process on this sweater. Even through a thin undershirt, the itch is prominent.

Order at least one size up
Order at least one size up, probably two if you plan to layer underneath. I'm 5'9", 150lb and the medium was too small. Very snug fit, and too tight under the arms with just a T shirt underneath. The large fits me under the arms, but the shape is quite form fitting in the arms and torso; this will work for my purposes (winter wear around town), but there's no room for comfortably layering anything bulky underneath. The material seems thinner than the ones I wore as a child, which were uk surplus / cadet issued.AoN

Not Authentic
I bought this item to replace a 30-year old wool British Commando sweater. The 30-year old sweater has a couple of small holes but overall has held up well. For starters, the vendor sent me the wrong style (epaulets and shoulder pocket) so loss of points. but since the sweater was the same color and size I ordered I figured I would give it a try.First, the new sweater was noticeably lighter in weight than my old sweater. Upon unpackageing, the material is much thinner than the old sweater. Regarding sizing, these do run really small. Back in the day, the authentic garments were ordered according to specific chest measurement. Not S-M-L etc. I was replacing my size 42 sweater so I figured with quite a few years of age on my frame and the reccomendations to order up, I ordered the L 44-46. I could barely fit my head through the hole. The sweater was very snug. In comparison to the old size 42, the 44-46 is about 1-2" shorter in length at the waist and the sleeves are about 1" shorter.Nowhere on the new sweater could I find a tag that stated "Manufactured in the United Kingdom" as my old sweater states. The product standard issues would leave me to believe that this sweater is manufactured in China or SE Asia. Or maybe a "chop shop" in England. Or maybe they just don't make 'em like they used to.I returned the garment for a full refund. I'm not going to pay $70 for a sweater that is less effective than the 30 year old model I already own.My search will continue for an authentic item.

A nice sweater
This sweater (jumper) is to replace sweaters I had left from military service years. It appears to be of a more finished quality than the older wool sweaters supplied from the British Army. It is of very good quality, fits well and I expect to get the same long service the others provided. I ordered a 3x where I would normally be a xL to 2xL. The label says 100 percent wool, but the texture seems like a wool blend with some streatchy material. I have no idea if it is pure wool but I am quite happy with the sweater.
