This Is Not Medium Firmess
The way this bed ships from PlushBeds I’d definitely call it Soft, not Medium, which for me caused profound back pain. Yes. Profound. Like all day pain that didn’t subside. And I’m not the type to have problems with mattresses- my BMI is low and I’m fit and not unusually proportioned. The problem? The 6” latex core that they call Medium-Firm (D75 rating) isn’t. It’s a lot softer than that (I’d call it Medium-Soft), so if you want a Medium feel I would strongly suggest going with one of their Medium-Firm mattresses, especially in the 12” or the 10” versions since it has a Medium-Firm D85 6” core . That way you’ll get a more firm, more supportive 6” core to put the comfort latex layer(s) over top of. In the 9” version a Medium would be closer to a true Medium since it doesn’t have as much soft/plush latex on top of the 6” Medium/soft core (only 2” vs the 5” in the 12” mattress) which in my best analogy turns this mattress into Jello. It bounces and jiggles it’s so unsupportive. Plush, yes. Definitely plush. But a mattress needs to be supportive too, and I’m not even heavy. My strong suggestion to PlushBeds would be to ship a firmer core with the 12” Botanical Bliss and perhaps even the 10” too, though I have no experience with that one.The only way I was able to make this mattress work for me was to heavily modify it by putting a 3” layer of firm latex UNDERNEATH the 6” core to create more appropriate support for proper spinal alignment. That way the medium/soft core is used more comfort, and less for the support layer. On top of the 6” core I put a 2” piece of true Medium latex, not what PlushBeds calls Medium (which is actually soft). And all of this is covered with a very expensive all-natural wool topper which reduces some of the squishy feel of the latex which I don’t care for. With this arrangement the mattress is a pretty good compromise of support and comfort. I’d definitely call this more of a true Medium/Soft since I get great pressure relief on my shoulder and hip when side sleeping, and still good comfort when back sleeping, too. I have another mattress made by a leading manufacturer and this one is softer than that one which is rated Medium-Soft. They say comfort is what you feel when you go to sleep, and support is what you feel when waking up. I’m never too sore in the morning like I was before the mods. Also, you want to be absolutely sure that the talalay latex comfort layers are labeled with an “N” rating (N for Natural I’d presume) as this is the manufacturers labeling (Talalay Global doesn’t make much of a distinction at all between their premium natural talalay and their cheaper belended talalay, and that’s a shame since to almost anyone they look identical) for 100% natural Talalay, where the 70% artificial/30% natural blended Talalay is labeled with various numbers without the “N” (signifying the firmess). I’ve attached a picture, so you can make sure you’re getting 100% natural talalay. Look for the “N”! Man-made latex certainly shouldn’t be in an organic mattress, and it’s definitely not what you paid for. Just double check. Also, if it makes a difference to anyone, the backing to the wool cover isn’t organic cotton like some competitors use. It’s polyester or some other low-cost synthetic (pic attached) which seems like an unnecessary shortcut for an expensive mattress that is aimed at “green” consumers who want the most natural possible sleeping experience. Backing the wool with organic cotton is the type of attention to detail you really like to see at this price point. You’ll also see the threading on my cover came undone in one spot, which PlushBeds promptly provided a new case because of. Also, a metal zipper would be useful rather than the cheap plastic one, too, since you’re likely to be opening and closing this to get the correct comfort and a broken zipper would leave you with a big headache. I tore the cheap polyester flap on the corners that they use for zipper protector and I was being gentle with it. There’s a lot of rubbing or friction there on the corners each time you make a change since latex is grippy and the case fits tightly on the corners. But again, I opened it and changed things around several times, and if you’re lucky you won’t have to.All-in-all I can see how someone would really like an all-latex mattress, but it requires a lot of fine-tuning unless you’re the type of sleeper who can basically sleep on anything. I seem to be having trouble getting something between too-Soft and too-Firm. In the end I’m not sure I’d wish the process of getting it to the right comfort on anyone though. It just may not be worth it since there is a lot of trial and error and really just a lot of frustration and aches and pains. It’s an art getting a latex mattress to feel “just right” for sure, not a science. Read the reviews that feel like they were written but an actual real customer and you’ll find similar opinions to mine. I just didn’t give up easily like so many other people do.I give PlushBeds an extra star because their customer service will help you if you’re the type of person who is willing to leave a negative review and you really stay on top of things and pay very close attention to every last detail (they shipped me blended talalay rather than natural talalay for example. Twice!). They aren’t the least bit bashful about asking you to remove a negative review either, a review that perhaps was what got them to do the right thing in the first, second, and third place. This didn’t surprise me, and I removed the review in order to appease them. But in the world of untested mattress sales online, customer reviews are of critical importance (which is why so many of them are of dubious origin). But I feel like an honest review from a real customer was still necessary since they’re rating the firmess of their mattresses differently than the actual manufacturer of the latex rates it (PlushBeds manufactures no latex, all they really do is mark up raw latex slabs for a profit and then slap a warranty on the mattress). My other mattress (beginning with T and ending in -edic) at Medium-Soft is quite a bit firmer than what I have right now, and that’s quite a bit firmer than what PlushBeds calls Medium. Can you see why consumers hate mattress shopping?!? :)If I wasn’t able to heavily modify (at no financial cost to me) what they ship per spec, I’d definitely have returned it. With that fair warning, go ahead and take a shot on one of these if you want, since most of us are buying these things untested, and it’s all returnable. Just be prepared to do the trial and error work- and be prepared for quite a bit of heavy lifting, too. Good luck!FINAL VERDICT (7/3/18):I wasn’t able to make the bed work with the 6” core, so as a last ditch effort I removed the 6” piece and replaced it with two 3” pieces. I had VERY low expectations. But... to my surprise it was comfortable enough to get a full night sleep on. The bed it an extreme DIY job with absolutely no proximity to the way this mattress is built by PlushBeds (the bed you’re found this review under). From the top layer down , it’s:3” Soft3” Firm2” Soft4” MediumI’m thinking this works since the Firm layer keeps my pelvis from sinking too deeply, while the softer layers underneath give the mattress a bit of additional softness. Regardless, it’s not the way any latex mattress company would layer a mattress. But it’s what works for me. The 3” top layer gives okay shoulder comfort and good hip comfort for side sleeping. It’s supportive enough for back sleeping too.The lesson with latex mattresses is clear to me. You literally have no idea what (if anything at all) will be a comfortable layering pattern for you. It wasn’t until I basically completely gave up that a result that I could live with miraculously appeared.

Very nice quality bed
Very nice quality bed. The bed was not offered in firm, only a medium firm which is softer than I wanted but a great guest room bed!

Super comfortable, healthy mattress.
Bought this for my daughter's room because she has allergies and needed an organic latex bed. She loves it, and it's super comfortable. It's also really easy to clean if you have kids. Very happy with this purchase!

Back pain!
My wife and I have never had so much trouble sleeping on a mattress. Both us are tossing and turning all night, and wake up with back pain. We are both very trim, so maybe it would be different if we were larger. Either way, we both regret not having returned this within the trial period. The only reason I've given this 2-stars is because it's organic, and there aren't a lot of non-toxic/organic mattress options out there yet.

Super Soft!
My mother moved in to stay with us, she has a severe back pain from many years. My wife was concerned about how to help her. She talked with our doctor who told us about this wonderful product called Plusbeds. He told us that it has organic cotton which gives comfort while sleeping. We go it on Amazon and now my mother has good night sleep and the back pain is under control.
