This is THE best option for frustrated drivers who are DONE with gimmicky costly failing mounts.
What's better; purchasing half a dozen temporary stick-on or clip-on mounts that scratch or gum up your car, and need replacing definitely at least twice a year, or: tapping into your inner strength and bite that bullet -- screw this to your dash, and be done with it. Forever. Hash tag no regrets. XD The ball you mount to your car is a universal 1" ball, never to be out of production, widely used. Even if you found that the base needed to be swapped for a different style down the road, the holes you make in your dash are not some random gonna-regret; they're in a very widely used AMPS pattern. Much like the VESA mounts for TV's, "The AMPS Pattern is a mounting standard and consists of 4 holes arranged in a rectangular configuration spaced apart 38mm x 30mm." Cars would come with the AMPS mounting holes in the dash if it didn't violate a safety regulation put into place to block inviting drivers from mounting large distracting devices in front of their window... *shifty-eyes* hmm... Anyways: Yes, the clamp is plastic. It's very sturdy though, and that says a lot coming from me who hates cheap garbage. I'd bet the one review of it broken in half because of a "large bump in the road" was actually caused by over-tightening the clamp. It was just waiting to snap! The bolt is *metal*, the clamp is *plastic*... If you keep tightening it down you could easily break through the plastic. Easily. ...The bolt won't care, it'll keep on goin! So, if you over-tighten it a bit, and perhaps start an unseen crack and cause lots of tension, all you'd need is to be watching a tiktok and slam 25mph over a speed bump to shatter the compressed plastic into oblivion. My advise? Don't watch tiktok. Ever, not just while driving. And also, only tighten it down until your phone doesn't sag the mount with a pinky-finger's worth of additional hand pressure. You can always tighten it an additional half-turn, but you can never un-over-tighten-it if you done broke it. My only beef is that it doesn't come with screws. I used small stainless steel round-head wood screws. If you don't have any on hand, pop into your local hardware store or Lowe's / Home Depot with the base plate in hand. Find the round-head wood screw section, and find screws that *barely* fit through the holes (width), and only protrude (length) ~1/3 of an inch out of the bottom of the plate (roughly 2-3 times the thickness of the plate itself). To mount it, put your phone in it and position it where it makes sense. Not too close to the wheel!! (think a palms width away, ~5 inches) ...and not totally blocking a vent if you can help it. Hold it down in place, and use a pencil to mark the holes. Alternately, use tape to mark the edges of the plate instead of the actual holes. Once marked, remove the base plate/ball from the rest of the mounting arm assembly and hand-screw just that down on your marks you made using a basic screw driver. Dashes are plastic, which is why wood screws are best; they have grippy threads and sharp self-drilling tips. Really, it'll be harder to resist stripping them too tight than it is to get them started. It's easy. Why you scared bruh? Just do it! You'll think yourself so cool afterwards! The phone holding apparatus isn't bad either! I have a big phone with a thick wallet case, and it holds onto it great. Sure, it's not a sleek low profile one-handed gravity-clamp or magnetic flux capacitor mount... You need two hands for 0.42 seconds... Pretend you're taking a selfie and you need to flip a hair back... Same difficulty level. Get over yourself. This mount is legit.

Good product.
This has worked well and I like the flexibility of the base. I've used my cell phone and GPS with this and never had a problem with it holding them.

Really good.....except for those damned screws.
The product is pretty much as described. The strange thing is that it didn't come with any hardware. (Screws)

Great mount
Great product, itll never fall off and holds the device very firmly. You can tighten the clamp enough so that it doesn't shake or vibrate at all when driving or tapping it. The mount can be adjusted to exactly where you want to put it.

Not enough strength to hold the phone up on bumpy roads or in the boat

This absoutly lives up to expectations
Every once in a while, we get something that we ordered, and it exceeds our expectations. This is one of those products. It is strong, easy to use, and it really holds everything from an iPad to a iPhone. I use it in my boat with absolute confidence that the device will stay put in its holder. I can't say that for other iPad holders I have purchased.

Does not stay in position. Bad design
Does not stay in position. Bad design. Mount is fine , when u tightened the lever to secure a certain position u want the phone to be in. It never has ability to stay because itโs one lever in middle of bracket . Bad design! Everytime u hit a bump the phone just lowers down til it hits . Returning this

I wouldn't trust it with my phone (Note 9)
It's plastic and appears that the holder support would break hitting the first wave. Sent it back.
