Review: Great product but wish I also had the larger one - I've been using the 2"x7" auger for the last couple of days and it does a great job. However, I am finding that the width of the holes is really tight for getting daffodil bulbs planted and I expect the same for the tulips I'll be planting in two days. Plus the recommended depth for some of the bulbs I'm planting is six to eight inches. Since this auger is only seven inches, it makes it difficult to get to the required depth. Many of the bulbs I planted needed to be just four inches down and were pretty small bulbs so this auger was just right for those. But having the 3"x12" auger in addition to this one would be the way I'd want to go for those larger daffodil and tulips bulbs. Also, I would recommend using some 12" kitchen tongs with this auger. Drill the hole, then use the tongs to clean out the hole since dirt will invariably fall back in to the hole. You can also use the tongs to place the bulb upright in the hole since you are not likely going to be able to reach down to the bottom to manipulate the bulb with your fingers.

I've been using the 2"x7" auger for the last couple of days and it does a great job. However, I am finding that the width of the holes is really tight for getting daffodil bulbs planted and I expect the same for the tulips I'll be planting in two days. Plus the recommended depth for some of the bulbs I'm planting is six to eight inches. Since this auger is only seven inches, it makes it difficult to get to the required depth. Many of the bulbs I planted needed to be just four inches down and were pretty small bulbs so this auger was just right for those. But having the 3"x12" auger in addition to this one would be the way I'd want to go for those larger daffodil and tulips bulbs. Also, I would recommend using some 12" kitchen tongs with this auger.
