Thread Director

Works like a Charm on my Longarm!
I bought this to use on my TinLizzie longarm when quilting with metallic and mono-poly threads. I attached it to the first pin a cone goes on, ran it through just one hole of the thread guides, and straight down through the tension disks as usual. After a little tweeking for setting the tension right, it worked like a charm.I knocked off one star because although this device works as advertised, it is made of flimsy plastic. Had it been made of metal - well then it would have gotten 5 stars all the way around! It's just pricey for flimsy plastic. I'm sure eventually it'll break, but I will enjoy using it until it does!

Does not deliver as promised
Badly manufactured. The mold parts used to manufacture the Thread Director left ridges where they came together making it difficult to get the supplied spool caps on, and thread on the T.D. will not spin freely. I followed the written directions and watched several online videos. This is not user error. I finely sanded it to remove the ridges. Still have not been able to get the T.D. to deliver even high quality Isacord thread properly to a Baby Lock Destiny Embroidery machine. The thread breaks, where on the regular spool spindle it feeds fine. Unless I discover a way to make this work with metallic threads, I regret the purchase.

The idea is good but it needs to be made of something sturdy ...
Arrived broken. Middle spool holder is flimsy plastic and didn't even make it to my house without being broken. Definitely not worth what I paid for it. The idea is good but it needs to be made of something sturdy that will survive mailing it. I can't see how it would actually hold up to the weight of a spool of thread pulling on it.

Brilliant little device!
What a brilliant little device! I was having some thread tension issues with my machine. I was getting so many thread breaks when putting the spools on either of the pin options on the machine. This wonderful invention has been the magic cure. By changing the orientation of the spool the thread is pulled off in a much better direction and I don't have tension issues anymore. Love it!

I'd bought one previously and loved it, so I purchased this second one and was VERY disappointed in it. The hole was drilled too large and wouldn't hold the screws, rendering the entire product useless.

I recommend going online and watching the video before use
Works amazingly well. I recommend going online and watching the video before use. I would prefer a sturdier stem and thread spool arm, be careful placing and removing spool caps so you don't break the spool arm. It's just too wiggly and bendable so it seems fragile. I made a bunch of Christmas ornaments stitching on organdy using various company's metallic thread to stitch the embroidery patterns. 20+ items only three breaks that were either my fault or the way the thread was wound on the spool when manufactured. Machine used was my Innovis 1400D, I slowed the stitching speed and used one layer of washaway stabilizer, and some multi-layered coasters. I think the stem and spool arms should be made of something less flexible than plastic and have no idea how long they will last, so I give it only 4*s. if made of sturdier material I would definitely give 5*s. I do think this is a wonderful idea though because it works. Just be gentle when using it and it will be fine.

Breaking news
I think it could be a better answer but for now this is good. It seems to hold the thread up to high. I don't like putting it on the bobbin holder that they suggest because if that gets damage, bigger problem than thread breaking.

Not as described.
The Thread Director Spool Pin Adapter did not work sufficiently for my use. I tried the bobbin and spool attachments on my Singer XL400. On the spool, it just didn't fit firmly and on the bobbin winder thingy it again wasn't attached firmly enough. I watched several videos and after I had issues with it, I checked their website. Singer was not mentioned as one of the machines it worked on. It showed Brother, Viking and others, but not Singer, so I couldn't actually check the placement. And it did not come with an instruction booklet as listed on the cardboard it was attached to.I am so happy for those of you that are able to use this device with success, but for my purposes the approx. $20 purchase was not worth the money.
