A Fabulous Set!
A superb collection of all The Hollies recordings from 1969 through March 1973. Chief amongst the many highlights is the long overdue remastering and release of that long lost 1973 gem, 'Out On The Road', which illustrates in spades what a fine group The Hollies were with Mikael Rickfors. 'Out On The Road' was The Hollies follow-up to the equally fine 1972 'Romany', but only saw release in Germany and Spain. The 1969-1971 Allan Clarke-fronted group were an equally talented unit, and all their hits, flipsides and LPs ('Hollies Sing Dylan', 'Hollies Sing Hollies', 'Confessions Of A Mind',and 'Distant Light') are included here in their entirety. The Hollies were a fabulous group during this period, whether tackling Dylan, aiming singles at the Top Forty, or producing some wonderful yet overlooked LPs. You owe it to yourself to check this set out. Also included are a few overlooked rarities which never saw the light of day, but are quality in their own right.Every true Hollies fan owes it to themselves to add this 5-disc set to their collection. You won't regret it!

Great Box Set
Nice remaster of all the music from this era of The Hollies long recording history. I am too young to remember the Hollies of the British Invasion. The music contained in this box set was what originally made me a Hollies fan.

The second box set
If you love their music enough to have bought the earlier box (covering the Nash years), than you will want this box as well. It is wonderful, but stops short of the album with their last great hit of the era.

add it to your collection
caters for various tastes and a lot of great hollies tracks here. Usual fillers but hey this band is legendry in the UK. Not many bands today could harmonise like these guys can.

Sign of the times
Excellent opportunity to review the first years with Terry Sylvester. Also one of the only opportunities to find all the tracks from the Out On the Road album on CD.

Wonderful, but when is the 1974-83 albums going to get the box set treatment? I hope it's not too long because this is a wonderful treatment of this groups recorded output, we just need the rest now, please.

Out on the Road....again
Like me, if you were disappointed with the quality of the Magic Release of the 1973 'Out on the Road' LP back in 2006, you are in for a real treat.EMI have done an impressive job with the 2014 remaster of this rare but classic German release from the Rickfors era. This set is worth it for just this album alone. Listen to 'The Last Wind' and you will see what I mean.Another highlight included is the Allan Clarke vocal treatment of Oh Granny!, released as the original flip side of 'The Baby from 1972, which was released on a budget single A's and B's compilation from 1993 and hasn't seen the light of day sinceEMI need to finish the job and release the third era in the series,Allan Clarke's return to the fold, from late 1973 to 1993, covering Hollies 74, Another Night and Buddy Holly, which have received a recent remasters, but Write On, Russian Roulette, A Crazy Steal and Five Three One Double Seven O' Four remain untouched since their release on EMI about 20 years ago as the long deleted 'Four Hollies Originals' and Four More Hollies Originals' box sets. Also the long awaited CD releases of B-Sides, 'Crossfire' from 1978 and 'You're All Woman' from 1985, and the yet unreleased 'Hard To Forget' from 1986 should be included on this set.

The difficult post Graham Nash years
The Hollies were one of Sixties Brit Pop's finest harmony combos. However, when Graham Nash quit the band, they lost a real inspired songwriting ingredient (as well as a fine vocalist) that proved difficult to replace. Everything they've ever recorded has a bottom line of quality performances and great production values, but the fact it the songs were not always of equal strength. 'Changin' Times' is still a fine listen, though, and is well worth it for the Hollies fan who wants to dig deep into their 70s catalogue. There are some wonderful moments - 'The Air That I Breathe' and 'Sandy' being but two, and I enjoyed the brief Mikael Rickfors period, when he was drafted in to replace Allan Clarke who left for a solo career for a couple of years. There is, however, quite a bit of filler, never less than enjoyable, but often inessential when you compare the sixties Golden Age.

A Great Collection for anyone who likes good solid Rock and Pop.
This release is excellent except for the two missing tracks from the Out On The Road sessions that have never been released. The two songs are Heaven In Her Heart and On The Summer Side Of Life at least I'm sure that's what they're called. The sound throughout this set is excellent and at long last we have the German Only release Out On The Road which is excellent. I just hope that Universal Music EMI will release these two songs in the near future. I highly recommend this set to anyone who likes good solid Rock and Pop Music. Also included in this set is the very underrated Distant Light Lp from 1970 which includes Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress the excellent Hold On and a song entitled Long Dark Road for which I think that The Hollies got a gold disc in America.

particularly the album tracks is fantastic, as is the production and of course there ...
This is a terric set, very well priced and most important of all includes the tracks that made up the German release only, Out On The Road, which makes it worth the price all on its own. Allan Clarke has probably the most under rated voice in all pop/rock and in many of these tracks it's not hard to see why. Quality of songs, particularly the album tracks is fantastic, as is the production and of course there is He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, surely anthemic for those of us lucky enough to have followed their career for some 50 years. Do yourselve a favour if you don't have the albums that make up this set, pick up a copy from Amazon. You won't regret it. And great liner notes from Bobby Elliott as well

The perfect companion for The Clarke
The perfect companion for The Clarke, Hicks & Nash Years, and proves that life did go on after Graham Nash. Some of the songs on this set are outstanding & a lot more progressive than much of The Crosby, Stills & Nash stuff, proving that grahams' dissing of the band was totally off the mark. The recording quality from E.M I. is excellent & to top it off for a five disc set it's a great price. I hope that there will be a volume 3 completing the recordings through the rest of the seventies at least.
