Q: Does this require a solenoid upgrade?

Yes, you should upgrade your stock solenoid to something that can handle 200 amps continuous to about 800 amps peak. The MZJ200 that we offer is correct. You also need a resistor and diode for the solenoid. Feel free to call EVDrives. 360-302-5226
