These dumbbells are excellent. I'm in my 60's and, like a lot of people in my age group, I'd allowed myself to get flabby and out of shape. I got all the junk off the treadmill and actually started using it. Years ago, I did weight training and wanted to add it to my exercise routine but I didn't want big bars and benches cluttering up the place, so I went looking for dumbbells.Besides being inexpensive, these are very well made. I love the positive feel of the spin-on collars (in the olden days I either had to use a little wrench or a sort of "L bolt" on the collars - these spin-on ones feel much more secure). The center handles are nicely knurled, providing a good grip. They accept any standard weight plate with a 1" hole (i.e., NOT Olympic plates). I think a couple reviewers remarked that the provided plates seemed to be made of "cheap steel" - I have no idea what that means. The plates are round, painted black and seem to weigh what the embossed weight says they do - what else do you want?If you're an old codger like me, remember YOU'RE NOT 25 ANYMORE! TAKE IT EASY!. Spend a week or two doing light exercises with light weights, just to get used to handling them. You're in your own home so who's gonna call you a wimp? When you're done exercising, put a whole bunch of weight on 'em and let 'em sit there. Then, when friends call, see 'em & say "Wow!", just hold your gut in and shrug it off :) (Take the extra weight off before your next exercise session).

Plus free shipping.The quality is fine if you view these as what they are, heavy weights for lifting. They consist of a steel bar and a pair of collars, and coated iron plates. If you lift them correctly, you will grow stronger. If you want weights to decorate your house as a hip “fitness guru” then you will need to cough up some big dough for stylish looking weights.My order showed up in two boxes, on different days. No biggie, each box weighed 52.5 lbs and had to be shipped separately. The collars and weights all looked fine upon arrival, and I received all eight rubber washers, which were in fine condition.I’ve been lifting with these weights for about a year now and the weights are still in good shape.My only problem is my kids unscrewed the collars one day and lost one of the rubber washers. This was easily replaced shopping on Amazon. I just bought a Pasco 2204 1.5-Inch Rubber Slip Joint Washer (about $5 at the time) and slipped it into the collar slot, and I was back in business. I would recommend using the rubber washers as they help keep the collars from slipping loose while lifting.If you are just starting lifting, or just need a pair of dumbbells around the house to supplement, then buy these.

I made a mistake when ordering these and got the only one that does not come as a set (the 52.5 pound version comes with one handle). This is stated in the description, but I missed it. However, the seller was very kind and helpful and worked with me to get a second handle for a small additional charge. They shipped it to me right away and were very responsive to any contact from me. As for the dumbells, I love them. Easy to use and I love being able to adjust them as I achieve my gains. It was a great experience and I really appreciated the seller working with me! 5 stars

They're functional.When I received them, one of the locks was missing a gasket so it runs into the plates. The plates themselves are painted black, and some of the paint is scratching off. Since I got these super cheap, and these problems don't really bother me, I will continue to use them.

Very helpful in getting started with a small home gym. I'm not the strongest person, so it's particularly useful to start with lower weights and work my way up using plates rather than buying fixed weight dumbbells. Far more economical, too. Occasionally the plates will move while I'm lifting, but it's very quick to correct and doesn't interfere with my sets.

Quality was better than I thought! I'm really loving this. The only downside is that adding weight to this will cost a lot more and Yes4All doesn't sell the plates individually here in Amazon. They do sell it on their website though, but not for a good price. Just be prepared to spend more if you are looking to add more weight.

Very nice weights overall. I would have given it 5 stars but it arrived in extremely poor condition. It was packed in a flimsy Express Mail box which had the end ripped out of it and some of the items exposed. In fact, our Mail Carrier said she was sorry she could not verify everything was in the box. Having said that, the products themselves are great and we are pleased with them.

These work well for my home gym. Great for the price and love that they’re adjustable.Knocked off one star because the locking screw becomes loose after every lift. It won’t stay tight no matter how much I try.
