Way farer Sunglasses were first manufactured by Bausch & Lomb 1956, when their design was a revolutionary break from the metal eyewear of the past. Way farers enjoyed early popularity in the 1950s and 1960s. Though the sunglasses had faded from the limelight by the 1970s, a lucrative 1982 product placement deal featuring Tom Cruise as well as a long list of A-list celebrities brought the Way farer to it's height of popularity. But, since the mid-2000s, the sunglasses have been enjoying a revival. Way farers are sometimes cited as the best-selling design of sunglasses in history (although Aviators have also been credited with this achievement) and have been called a classic of modern design and one of the most enduring fashion icons of the 20th century. Illuminated Eyewear is a socially-conscious Eyewear brand specializing in Classically Styled Sunglasses with a time-honored brand aesthetic. Most importantly, for every pair of sunglasses we sell, a contribution is made to help someone in an impoverished part of the world regain sight… either through an eye exam, a new pair of prescription eyeglasses, or in some cases, a surgical procedure. "The Only thing worse than being blind is having sight, but no vision." —Helen Keller We could never hope to achieve our lofty goals without the help and guidance of our two long-standing philanthropic partners: Orbis & Seva Foundation with whom we work directly, allowing our customers to re-purpose their eyewear choices not only to protect their eyes, enhance their appearance & shade their face, but simultaneously to help make the world a better place... to see a world through rose colored glasses, said another way. What you expect for the price. Frames are expensive for no real reason. They are all basically made by the same company (I'm serious look it up) I buy these cheep frames and get the optometrist to trade out the glass for some polorized ones then boom I'm set and it doesn't set me back 200 dollars
