A Heartbroken Manga That Will Steal Your Heart
The best work of mangaka artist Kazuto Okada-sensei I love his work to the heart. This manga has the best twist of plot that will move your emotion of anger into sorrow. The sadness and happiness of each character will hit your soul and heart in each chapter where they develop into mature adults and face their weakness. I'm happy to buy this manga into my collection so I recommend you to buy it as well.

A big fan of a very good series!
I've been a big fan of Sundome since the very first volume was released in the States. It is depressingly seldom that I find a title that captures my attention on any level, let alone on multiple levels like Sundome has done. So I thought I would just dish a little about the series as a whole here. And while this isn't strictly a volume eight review, suffice to say that volume eight complemented and completed a very good series well.Oh, I agree that Sundome's initial draw was to a guilty little bit of naughtiness and figured that was exactly where it would start and stop. When I bought the first book, I honestly didn't even think I would ever buy the second one. But that was before I actually read the book.I wasn't turned away by most of the artwork, but I'm not a big fan of the `super deformed' style and Okada san seems to love it. But I have to give credit where it is due. In emotionally turbulent moments some of his work could stand up to anyone out there. If such attention to detail and shading were found throughout the entire work...he would have created something truly amazing. The story was not `War and Peace', but it wasn't supposed to be was it? Okada san has been faulted for transparent plot devices and shallow characters...ya think? Come on folks, this is a book with a premise set around sexual fetishes. You aren't going to pull `Gone with the Wind' out of the plot no matter how hard you try. Furthermore, I actually found the two main characters in Sundome (Aiba and Sahana) to be intriguing. More to the point, the nature of their relationship intrigued me. No, the background characters weren't going to get books of their own, but they played their rolls well. Without the underdeveloped and admittedly `cookie cutter' background characters, the main story wouldn't have been told nearly as well. So, for me, any glaring shortcomings with the background cast were made up for by the fact that they allowed the main story to be told in greater detail and more smoothly than would have been possible without them in place.I also have to applaud Sundome's timing. I think eight volumes told the story. And while I personally would have liked to have seen a ninth volume detailing more of the character's lives a few years after `the major event' in volume eight, I was satisfied with the ending. Some good manga drag out their story's too long. Sundome knew when to call it a day.In short, if you haven't read this series yet and you are all legal and stuff (stuff, being; not offended by strong sexual content), pick it up from the beginning and enjoy yourself. You'll find out by the second volume what had such a hook in me. It was the story that Okada san wasn't telling us that made me keep coming back. And while I didn't mind reviewing each volume as it was released for a simple guilty pleasure, it was the dialogue that my wife and I would have after I passed it off to her that really made this series shine for me. We probably wasted at least one evening after each volume telling each other about where we thought the story was going, why this character did this, and why we thought that character might be going to do that. It might have been a mutual love of naughtiness that brought us to Sundome's table, but it was something more that kept bringing us back.Kudos to Okada san for a job well done, and here's to hoping his new series Ibitsu is quickly licensed and brought to the States as well.

A sad, but fulfilling, slice of life.
Great Manga series. Issue 8 is where everything comes together, and end on a bitter sweet note. Much like real life, we don't always get what we want, but we can choose enjoy what we are given.

Great!
Despite ending being predictable, due to a lot of previous foreshadowing, it was still a great series, and a story with a well written end. I couldn't put the books down until I have finished reading all of them.

but funny as hell
Probably not something your aged mother should see, but funny as hell. However, this final volume goes straight into tragedy, as a lot of manga seems to do. I really, really enjoyed the story line, and the art is solid.
