Does the job great for putting on in stall before the night in.
I put this product on the central area at the heel where my horse tends to get thrush. I clean this area out of mud with the pick. Then with gloves on both hands put the clay nice and compact apply with my finger and pushing in and wiping to remove access. I put this on about 2 times a week as I am at a boarding barn and time it so it's when he is in his stall for the night. I find out of wet and mud and with a night to work it does a great job! I also do find it stays in place for the next day to prevent mud and bacteria going in there. Great stuff and has the ability to close up this area over over time. Recommend! I also use the liquid farriers formula a couple of times a week in the wet season. I do find the clay is the best though and pays to order the big jar!

Very effective and the clay stays out in the hoof!
This product is amazing. It is a thick, sticky clay that stays in the cracks and crevices of the hoof very well. It is definitely healing and preventing the thrush in my horse's hoof and I only need to reapply every few days. When you do, you will be scraping out the old clay!I highly recommend wearing gloves when you apply because this clay does not wash off easily.

I like this product. But whiteline disease seems to take long time to cure.
Whiteline disease seems to take long time to cure. The product was shipped in a bag and arrived with a cracked container. But no big deal. I tapped it up.

1 star for packaging/handling
This is a great product that I've used many times but this shipment was not protected at all. Bottom of jar is shattered and now the clay will dry out before I can possibly use it all. I can't believe someone thought it was a good idea to put this in a bag and ship it.Fortunately I still have an empty container I can try to transfer it to, but what a pain! The product itself is great for hoof health. I fill in around the frog before putting on our Scoot Boots glue on's.

A good non-toxic packing material that's a little slippery.
I was looking for a hoof packing material without tar/alcohol. I have a mare with incredibly fragile hooves that stand in mud for 6-8 months out of the year. It definitely sticks better to a clean and completely dry hoof. I shove the material between hoof and shoe or any cracks she has at the time. Although it doesn't seem to stay put as long as packing materials with tar, it is easier to handle, non-toxic, and she hasn't gotten any thrush yet this year. I anticipate going through this faster than other brands due to it rubbing off faster, but it seems to be doing the job!

It works for me
If I followed to directions for frequency of use I'm sure it would work even better. I'm in hard California clay that turns to sticky mud in the winter rains. I apply it about 7 to 10 days and it stays into the deepest creases. Has definitely helped to control thrush. Wish it were cheaper though.

Good little product
I won't say it works miracles for my mare but it does seem to help preserve the healthy hoof and/ or slow down the cracking/decay on her clubby hoof.
