T4Tango is a 60-mins charming documentary that recounts with humor and character the 4-days of the official Argentine Tango Championship held for the 1st time in the USA, in the city of San Francisco, in April 2011. Never before in the history of Tango that the Cultural dept. of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina would organize a Tango Championship in the USA. The story is told thru the eyes of a novice Tango dancer as she explores the behind-the-scene drama, and interviews the contestants in a grueling, and prestigious competition full of surprises. It is a celebration of the dream of ordinary people who share the love for the dance, and made this extraordinary event possible.

Sincere and honest
There is something really endearing and honest about this documentary. I think we are getting kind of spoiled by the new wave of polished documentaries shot in slick DSLR's. That is not what you'll find on this little darling. It's a honest and sincere effort on capturing the moment of people trying. No agenda, just simple story telling. A pleasant surprise.

Amateurish in the worst way
Two thumbs down! This movie sucks. Downloaded it from Amazon instant video for $1.99 rental and consider that $1.99 wasted. Terrible editing, terrible interviewer, terrible filming. A movie about tango with a tiny fraction of snippets of dancing and a stultifyingly boring swath of bad interviews, crowd shots, awkward close-ups. A movie about a competition without any sense of tension. Could only stand 20 minutes of it before I gave up. The only thing it left me wondering and thinking about was how a competition could be set up with very experienced, highly polished pro couples in direct competition with many obviously amateur, inexperienced, ill-prepared couples. If I were one of the organizers, I'd want this movie taken down, as it makes the competition look bad, too. I've danced competitively in the NDCA circuit for years and there's no comparison to the depth of field of competitors and professionalism of organizers. Disappointing, as I was searching for a new competition to try out.
