A must-have for live performances in small venues
I bought this item for use at small-venue gigs for monitoring, backing tracks etc.Item arrived well-packed, no issues with battery charging/battery life.Setup was straightforward (recommend CH2 for backing/line-level and save CH1 for mics requiring phantom power.Support was awesome when I encountered issues with the app (use JBL Pro Connect). after that, smooth sailing all the way! This unit has more than enough power for small venues, plenty of low-end handling, also sounds amazing when BT streaming. On the live performance side, I run Roland SPD One WAV through an ART Tube MP Studio into CH2, and add some bass to add punch to backing tracks. The on-board FX are a bonus - we normally use outboard units and will experiment with the on-board options.EQ is simple to set on-board, and even better with the JBL Pro Connect app.Great value, good price point, will definitely consider a second unit, THANKS!

It’s very flexible, didn’t see others in this range with so many features.
In this space of all-in-one battery powered speakers, this seems to have all the bases covered, especially for a one person show. The four channel mixer is easy to use, especially with the JBL “pro” app. It also has effects like reverb, chorus and delay, great for acoustic guitar and vocals. Best of all, it sounds better than the others I tried in this space (didn’t try Bose S1). I got lucky and bought it “like new” and it was just like new. The only thing I don’t like on it is the on/off method, but getting ised to it Used it in a medium room for a show, barely had to turn it up. Going for an outdoor gig next. Might want to get another one to synch up for more sounds coverage. But we’ll see.

Faulty Power Button Components - do NOT buy!!
I did a lot of research to find the best sound from a lightweight battery operated speaker because I needed to run dance fitness classes outdoors during the pandemic. this speaker seemed to fill that criteria but I quickly learned that the power button panel has a majorly flawed design - the button gets skewed and then you can't turn the speaker on or off. Even after opening the panel and resetting the button, it would get stuck again. (See picture showing button in the stuck position. the scratch marks are from when we tried to use keys to pry the button out so we could turn it on). Of course, this started to happen right after the 3 month original return button. I've been back and forth with Harmon on the warranty for more than a year. It took months for a licensed local repair person to get the part in stock to fix the button. so that was infuriating because I needed the speaker to run classes. It was finally fixed 7 months after purchase. Then it was winter and we didn't run many outdoor classes. We started to use it again this spring and summer and it's broken again. Now it phantom turns itself on randomly so I have to keep it plugged in if I need to use or else the battery will drain. Then when I unplug it, it often will not connect to bluetooth, so we try to turn it off and on again...except it won't turn on. The company will not give my money back, so I have to go through another round of trying to get this repaired. Save yourself a headache and look for a different speaker. (fwiw we have NEVER had problems with our EVs, however they don't make a loud battery operated option)

Bose S1 Pro vs JBl Compact
I am a big Bose fan, have the smaller portables, head phones, HT set ups etc. I wanted a loud Bluetooth speaker to use outdoors and in the garage. I originally just got the Bose, then got this one. Figured I would leave one in the garage and one in the truck for outdoor stuff. I looked at a ton of reviews and at the end of the day, the feedback was split on which is better. After having both, the one thing that I really didn’t appreciate was having a full EQ on the JBL. Out of the box the Bose sounds better but it does have that “Bose” filter on it. It sounds good but does sound like my other bose products. The JBL sounded weak in the mids and harsh on the high end, the bass also seemed to have a sharp drop past 150hz.With the full EQ, you can get this speaker to sound however you want and are not “take it or leave it” like you are with the bose. Want more mids? 5 seconds on the EQ and done. You can tailor the sound to however you want. Since this speaker also goes lower, the range is bigger also. Want it to be flat? Increase the EQ curve and done. I was playing with it for 5 minutes and got it sounding perfect. Also, the volume on this thing is very high 112dbs is no joke. I doubt anyone will ever get past 80% on this thing unless no one is sitting within 15ft.Long story short, get the JBL and tune it to whatever sound profile you prefer. I didn’t mess with the PA features, and I have no intent of playing instruments in my lifetime. From what I understand they are better on this unit though. Just wanted a very loud Bluetooth speaker, this unit checks that box for me.Ended up paying the restocking fee and grabbing a second JBL.
