The book was just the best book I ever read in terms of usefull advise and tools since I became a doula. At my daughter's birth in 2004 I faced first a difficult birth, and then a difficult breastfeeding. I would really have appreciated if anyone could have helped me during these times and still now, after the healing experience of becoming a doula for mothers who are struggling, to read your book was so heart warming. I hope I will be able to learn from your book and help more mothers now. Thank you very much Hilary.

One of the best books I've read
This book has so much wisdom for moms, birth workers, and anyone else working directly with lactating women. I am a mother and a doula, and this is one of the best texts I've read. I wish I would have read this at the birth of my first daughter when I experienced first hand how difficult breastfeeding can be with a lack of resources, support, etc. Thank you Hilary Jacobson!

A Needed Guide and Tool
The issues addressed here by Jacobson have long been brushed under the rug as new mothers tried to cope with the surprising grief that can accompany the "joyful" postpartum period. Jacobson's practical information, effective practices, and revealing interviews all convene within this charming book to help women get beyond stigmas attached to breastfeeding difficulties and into the creation of a sustainable mother-baby bond. Ultimately, her practices prepare women to cope with the unexpected challenges of parenthood in empowered ways.

This is a really important book and I plan on using it to help the parents I work with, when needed. This book is written with compassion and knowledge and I believe it is going to help many people who did not have the feeding experience they were hoping for or who did not have the support that they needed. Thanks you, Ms. Jacobson.

clarifies when difficult choices are options not initially envisioned
As an IBCLC I know that there are situations when after much effort or circumstances when breastfeeding is not the method that is the ultimately mom's choice. This helps to see the decision makers perspective.

This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I have found it comforting and helpful. The breathing mediations and visualizations are new to me, but I do think with practice they will get easier and really will make a difference.
