My cat managed to ditch it & his quick release collar somewhere in a blackberry bush in under 2 weeks LOL. So I guess my one complaint could be how easily the fabric catches on brush/bramble causing it to be lost... I'm sure in a suburban area you'd never have that issue. We live on acreage. But while he did have it on he didn't catch any birds so it did work as advertised. Will probably get another one soon. Review: This actually works! - My nine-year old cat is an avid hunter. She was bringing in a kill, or live bird almost every day. I originally purchased the giant bell for her collar from this company and it worked for four days. This collar has worked now for three weeks. No birds, lizards, or rats (dead or alive) in my house for THREE WEEKS!!! Whereas I used to tentatively walk into my kitchen every morning, steeling myself for some level of carnage requiring a cleanup crew, I can now start my mornings on a joyful note. I highly recommend this product. If you have a bell on your cat's collar that you want to keep, I recommend putting a small stitch on each end of the openings to keep the bell from sliding into the fabric tube. The tube is rather wide and presents some issues, but they're not insurmountable - and applying a couple of small stitches helps a lot. ## Features - SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN PROTECTION: Keep your backyard birds safe! The vibrant pattern and bright colors are designed to be seen quickly by birds, giving them the extra seconds they need to fly to safety. - REFLECTIVE NIGHT SAFETY: Not just for the birds—the integrated reflective trim ensures your cat is visible to motorists and neighbors during low-light or nighttime adventures. - COMFORTABLE & EASY TO USE: Simply slide your cat’s existing breakaway collar through the cover. It’s lightweight, non-restrictive, and machine-washable for easy maintenance. - ECO-FRIENDLY PET OWNERSHIP: Enjoy the best of both worlds by allowing your cat outdoor time while actively protecting local wildlife and bird populations. - IMPORTANT FIT NOTE: This product is a collar cover only. A bell can be hung from the inside collar, or sometimes people sew bells on the outside of the fabric collar cover. The Birdsbesafe® collar cover works very well without bells, too, as it's designed to use colors to alert birds to the cat's stalking nearby. **Q: Can the cat wear just the colorful fabric or does a collar need to be worn under it?** A: Hello, The Birdsbesafe cat collar cover does need a cat collar, which is then put inside of the collar cover, and is used to hold the fabric cover on the cat's neck. Cat collars need to be purchased separately, which helps the cat owner be able to choose and use any brand of cat collar that they like. Make sure to use a breakaway buckled cat collar, which releases automatically. The Birdsbesafe cover is tubular, and open at two ends, so it can release (fall off) the cat if the cat collar buckle opens. That's for cat safety. Thank you! **Q: Does this work on frogs, lizards, and chipmunks?** A: Cats wearing Birdsbesafe collar covers can hunt mammals "normally." Rodents don't have the same eye features that songbirds do. Expect the usual number of mice and other mammals to be caught. A scientific study in Australia showed some protection for lizards when cats wore Birdsbesafe cat collar covers. **Q: does this increase cat visibility to coyotes?** A: This information pertains to dogs and coyotes, as their senses are similiar. Dogs and other canines see red, yellow, and orange as gray. They see green as gray, and see blue as light blue. Dogs are commonly called "color blind" for this reason. They also do not see with great detail and clarity from a distance, but rely more on smell and sound. Patterns and colors are not expected to be attractive to coyotes. One could check with local wildlife authorities for further information. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked great before kitty ditched it *by Z***Y on September 5, 2026* Loved this while I had it... He would occassionally chase one - but he never killed a bird or brought one inside. Truthfully, it was a bit comical watching him lumber around after the birds. But I felt bad for the birds, so I bought this collar to help the birds visualize him better. I was not prepared for what happened next. The first day with the collar, the cat caught and brought 7 birds into the house. He did not kill any of them, he gently brought them in and placed them at my feet. The second day he delivered 11 birds. The collar is well made and looks quite cute - but it in no way deterred my cat from catching birds - it actually empowered him! ## Frequently Bought Together - Birdsbesafe® Funky Cat Collar Cover - Bird Warning Cat Collar, Scientifically Proven to Help Prevent Your Cat from Catching Birds - Please Purchase Breakaway Collar Separately - Birdsbesafe® Wavy Stripes Cat Collar Cover for Birds - Bird Warning Cat Collar, Scientifically Proven to Help Prevent Your Cat from Catching Birds - Please Purchase Breakaway Collar Separately - Birdsbesafe® Puzzle Cat Collar Cover - Bird Warning Cat Collar, Scientifically Proven to Help Prevent Your Cat from Catching Birds - Please Purchase Breakaway Collar Separately --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.be/products/16417737-tribal-stripes-cat-collar-cover](https://www.desertcart.be/products/16417737-tribal-stripes-cat-collar-cover) --- *Product available on Desertcart Belgium* *Store origin: BE* *Last updated: 2026-10-02*
