This book offers some great insight into nutritional help for ALS!

Author clueless about ALS
My email to the author says it all:I just finished your book and am sorely disappointed and angry. Many of the dietary suggestions make sense for a healthy lifestyle and I have been following lots of them since before I was diagnosed with ALS.However your book is not about ALS at all, makes little mention of it, and not only reflects a complete lack of knowledge or even ignorance of the disease, but also gets one's hopes up with no backup or proof. You continually refer to weight loss and not counting calories; do you not even know the basic fact that the worst thing for ALS patients is to lose weight?!? Just reading a basic article on the web will tell you that we struggle to maintain weight. The metabolism increases for people with ALS because it takes energy for the body to waste away the muscles. You make no reference to the necessary diet adjustments due to bulbar symptoms like choking and having to eat softer foods. You make no reference to the ubiquitous painful muscle spasms and constipation caused by ALS - does your diet help that? All of the symptoms that you describe will disappear by following your diet are not symptoms I have. Except for weak muscles – how can you even think of suggesting that someone with ALS can gain a stronger grip? The muscles are wasting away and we struggle to maintain what we have! I have never taken statin drugs, never drink soda. You criticize the FDA and clinical trials but where is the proof that your diet "conquers" ALS? What studies have you done? Even anecdotally?Somewhere you mention something about hormone replacement being bad but never come back to it. Is my Prempro contributing to my ALS symptoms? You mention that "health nuts" say that vitamins are retained even when roasting nuts - where is the proof that they aren't? Should I go changing to tasteless raw almonds that discourage me from eating more?I can get past the bad editing including grammar, wrong words and factual errors (saccharin is Sweet and Low not Equal). I can get past the incessant repetition. But I cannot get past the insult to ALS patients shown by your ignorance of the disease and unproven diet.

Real help and hope for those with an ALS diagnosis!
This is a wonderful book, in so many ways. The current mainstream medical protocol for treating an ALS diagnosis, offers no cure. It offers only more drugs to possibly help with some of the symptoms, while often further impairing the ability of the body to heal itself.Today, there is now the reality of drug (statin) induced ALS. This book shows the way to stop damaging your own ability to heal, by showing which beverages and foods damage, and which help, on a cellular level. The science of cell nutrition is covered in detail.People today with ALS diagnosis often submit to all the current protocol, dragging themselves to the doctor, while still unknowingly through their diet, doing harm to their own natural ability to heal. Truth will give you hope, and the ability to take many matters into your own hands, in your battle against ALS.All the recommendations in the book are based firstly on "do no harm." Don't be turned away by baseless "reviews" by those who make personal attacks, while addressing nothing in the book. I have read it and studied it. You read it and decide. You are capable of seeing if something makes sense or not. You won't be sorry. If you or a loved one has an ALS diagnosis, reading and applying this book will give you a real chance.

I am putting these recommendations to good use.
ALS needs some hope, some self directed hope, and this book gives some incite as to how and what is going on in your body. I bought this book as a guide, some easier reading to help sum up all the technical papers I have read. Cleaning up your diet may or may not cure ALS, but it can't hurt you either. I flatly disagree with another reviewer that it is harmful and needs clinical testing. The medicine is sound advice for everyone, especially ALS patients who need to lower their inflammatory response to possibly slow the progression of the disease. Yes I have ALS, and yes, I am putting these recommendations to good use.

Liked the book
I found the information in this book very helpful. Dr Yoseph seems to have a real understand of ALS and it's causes and offers a diet and nutrients that will help. I am starting the program this week and look forward to better health. The book was self published so it was a little rustic, but i actually appreciate that. I would definately recommend this book to anyone with ALS seeking to be empowered to improve their health. The book inspires hope and encourages us to take it upon ourselves to create our own healing process.

it was for our son with als.
I sent for these 3 books for my son who has ALS. I REVIEWED them to see if he could handle them and found them too scarey for him to read if he could. He no longer can hold a book up to read. I sent them back using your envelope code 2 days ago. My computer was Down so I finally couldn't make a copy of the special envelope print. I finally got the computer up, printed the special address and sent the package off. Please acknowledge receiving the package in a box. phyllis kesling

Intriguing!
This book was very interesting! It explored the mycoplasma/ALS connection along with statins/ALS connection. I liked the format where the author printed out medical journal entries so that even a layperson such as myself could easily research the topics. Fabulous book, I've given away two of them and will buy a third.ALS is such a scary diagnosis, which the mainstream medical community offers no hope. My opinion is that in ALS the body needs homeostasis restored, not a poisonous drug. This book shows a possible route to regaining homeostasis.

Everyone who has ALS should have this book.
My son was diagnosed with ALS. He is presently on this diet. I bought a copy for me too. I am so impressed with all the research that went into this book. I think it will take time but I believe my son will improve following these suggestions. I have a good deal of hope now. I hope everyone who has ALS or has a relative with ALS should buy this book and follow the diet.

Not too convincing
This is a strange book. It is passionate, not to say hysterical at times, and the author no doubt believes what she is saying. She even provides evidence for her theories, though not as much as I would have liked. She contends that statins/mycotoxins are ‘irrefutably’ responsible for ALS/MND. I have a slow form of this illness and have never taken statins. The ALS forums are alight with controversy over this book and the refusal of Dr Yoseph to provide information about her qualifications and experience. Nevertheless, her ideas hold some truth in my opinion and her plea for people with neurodegenerative illnesses to avoid white flour and sugar and soft drinks is heartfelt and has been put forward by many other authors. It would be a better book if it had been proofread properly and if it did not claim to be written in simple prose – the information is very technical and unnecessarily repetitive.
