The $13 pays for 4 notebooks, I think; not just one. But not sure if it's worth the price diff. Depends on what you want. I found it worthwhile, because I like the pliable cover; the sheen on the paper; the narrow rule; and having smaller notebooks, rather than filling half of a whole bunch. Hope this helps somewhat.

Will fountain pens work on this paper?

Is it considered college ruled?

Hi -- I just compared my Kokuyo to college rule, and Kokuyo is slightly narrower, smaller, so not quite as much room for writing. Also has tiny speck marks that make it easier to write Asian characters, but I don't find that distracting at all. The paper finish is wonderful, and you can write on both sides, no bleed-through. Expensive, but I love them.
